US PS3 Store already online - PlayStation 3 News at GameSpot

Though the PlayStation 3 does not officially go on sale until November 17, Sony isn't wasting time getting the console's online services ready. Those lucky enough to get a pre-launch PlayStation 3 can now register for an online account, check out the store, and download the system's first demos.

Though registration is free, those looking to hook up their PS3s with Sony's online service will need a valid credit card. Once signed up, gamers will have the option to choose an avatar from several pages of Sony-centric art, including pics from the Jak and Daxter, Sly Cooper, God of War, and SOCOM games.

The online store is currently populated by trailers for Lair, Genji: Days of the Blade, Warhawk, Resistance: Fall of Man, NBA 07, Calling All Cars!, Motorstorm, Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom, and Cash Guns Chaos DLX. Several free demos are also available, including those for Blast Factor, Formula One Championship Edition, Motorstorm, Cash Guns Chaos, Resistance, and NBA 07. Sony is also offering two downloadable games--Cash Guns Chaos and Blast Factor, both for $7.99 each.

But it isn't all about games. There are also Blu-ray disc trailers for Black Hawk Down, House of Flying Daggers, Ultraviolet, and more.

Rudimentary options for friends lists and messages are also available.

Capcom's Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix also lands on the PSN this week. A redux of the arcade original, SPFIITHDR remasters the gem-busting puzzle game with new visual effects for the gem icons and backgrounds. It also updates the game's graphics to support 1080p output. Players can spar against the CPU in single-player mode or drop gems online in ranked and friendly matches. The game also features worldwide rankings and leaderboards. SPFIITHDR is downloadable for $9.99 and is rated E for Everyone.

For cash-conscious gamers, and those who just like free stuff, Sony has also added a number of demos to the PSN this week. Sports fans looking to try before they buy will be happy to know that samples for EA Sports' Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2008 and NASCAR 08, as well as 2K Sports' All-Pro Football 2K8, are all available for download. Rounding out this week's free updates are two Heavenly Sword videos, trailers for Game Republic's Folklore and Codemasters' Clive Barker's Jericho, and movie trailers for Beowulf and Bee Movie.
