Comcast Makes Bandwidth Cap Official

Here's the number- 250 gigabytes a month and you're cut off. What's missing from this article is information on how a customer can monitor their usage.
Regardless, expect companies like Netflix to fight Comcast and any other ISP who tries this.

Well yeah, cuz they've abused the amount of people you can put on a single node. I wouldn't be suprized if there were at least 30 people (that is until FiOS came in a few months ago) on the node.

Granted 250GB isn't a problem for most people, but what happens with HD video streaming if say Netflix comes out with it? Then that number of movies to download per month shrinks to probably around 20 (legally of course).

I really don't like the way some things are going. I feel that users should not be capped at a certain limit that they pay for...especially considering the price Comcast charges. I don't use Comcast anymore and i'm glad I don't. Even if I still had Comcast I would never be able to reach that limit because it never worked half the time.Go figure.

Well the one bright spot is that they actually came out and finally made it official rather than what was being reported (which was some funky math like 10% over some certain average).

id like to know how much ive used per month. my buddy went a little buck wild with rapidshare and comcast shut him off the last two months.

I have to agree it was bs that they would cut you off for a unknown amount of usage. the 250gig seems like enough for me but let the free market decide. now if they would just boost my UL speed already.

250gig is a high cap, but I've had months I've done way over that...

I guess its time to go 2x or maybe even 3x WAN...

It's so stupid because bandwidth speeds in other countries demolish ours, and I seriously doubt they have caps.
