| | | anyone here played/playing Res evil 4 its pretty ok but didnt deserve the high ratings given to it. certanily not as good as res evil 1, 2 and code:veronica, or silent hill 1 & 2. SL 1 was THE best survival horror game imo.
the graphics r just ok on the ps2. perhaps im unfairly comparing to next gen pc games. story isnt tht great either, though i think im half way through. and i guess the regular enemies and puzzles r a bit easy.playing on normal and a shot from the good ole shotgun clears a couple away at the same time. prolly a 8.5 imo so far.

| | | You really oughta play it on the Gamecube, the game was made for that system, and it just plays, sounds, and looks fantastic, especially since the GCN is more powerfull than the Ps2 version. I thought it was an awesome game. The satisfaction you get from blasting them in the knee and then a head shot with the shotgun is amazing. Lots of feedback through the controller. I loved it 10/10. |

| | | the reviews said there was little graphical difference between the 2. the ps2 does add widescreen support without the letterbox, better sound which i dont take advantage of, and some new content. did u play with the chainsaw controller??:wow:

| | | i've been thinking about picking up a used gamecube for super cheap off ebay just to play this game, i'm still contemplating though, as you don't seem to be all that impressed. But i feel like i'm missing out, it is the best game on the gamecube i hear, thats gotta mean something.

| | | I got a Gamecube for 30 quid off ebay (with a controller - now 3 and some 3rd party memory card) and its amazing. I mean most of the kiddy, arcady games (Mario Party, Super Smash Bro's, Double Dash etc) are really, really, really fun. The Star Wars Rogue Squadron games are both great fun especially with a few other people and RE4 looks really good as well.

: 89 th | | | Resident Evil 4 is one of the best games I've ever played. For the Cube the gameplay was amazing. I just bought it for PS2 because of the new guns and special level. I dont know where i'm gonna get around to playing it tho. |

| | | The game may be slightly over-rated, but I love it...I don't find it as satisfying as Far Cry or Half-Life 2 on the PC, but it's a great game...
The puzzles are easy...but I hate puzzles...I wish games would get rid of them entirely...and thank goodness, this is not a jumping game...there's not a more frustrating design than having to run and jump at the very edge to clear something...goes back to the days of Track n' Field and that was about the only game where jumping was fun and didn't feel out of place...even World of Warcraft had a jumping puzzle to get into Blackfathom Deep...how stupid is that?
What sets Resident Evil 4 apart, in my opinion, is the sound and the controls...on a Dolby Pro Logic II system, it probably has the best use of sound that I've ever heard in a game...the music turns sinister and I know something bad is going to happen...I keep flipping around (the over-the-shoulder view is perfect because you don't have a wide range of vision...you just feel like something's on the periphery) and I have to keep reminding myself that it's just a game and I can start over...music and sound effects are incredible...
And after having played FPS on the PC, I can't stand shooters on consoles...I'm one of the few people who didn't like Halo 2 because I couldn't get used to the controls...the control layout for RE4 on the Gamecube is very intuitive after about 10 minutes of play...the controls never get in the way and you don't have to think about them...
The first part of the story is intense and freaky...the castle bit is slightly over-the-top with the never-ending castle and the silly, impudent Spanish colonial midget...the end chapter ties up quite nicely...and the unlockables are cool...
I never played any of the other Resident Evil games or Silent Hill or Devil May Cry or Darkwatch, but those games would be hard pressed to have sound as good as this game...

Completed Far Cry and Half-Life 2 on the machine at 1024x768 w/ no adapter scaling (yep...postage stamp sized game screen)...UT2004 runs pretty well at 1280x960 but time to upgrade...
