| | | PSP Games requiring firmware 2.0...little help please... I am considering buying a PSP.
Primary use would be PSP games. Next use would be watching movies on the PSP. And then using it as an mp3 player. And then using it to run Genesis and NES emulators. And finally, browsing the internet...(very distant behind emulators).
From the homework I've done, it appears that I have to have firmware 1.00 or 1.50 to do the emulators and firmware 2.00+ to browse the internet.
There are several PSPs on eBay that still have firmware 1.50 so I can pick one up to run the emulators and I'll be completely happy with that setup. Or, in other words, I won't care about 4:3 video, ATRAC??? (whatever that is), changing wallpaper, or browsing the internet.
HOWEVER...I will care if there are some PSP games that I want and can't play with firmware 1.50.
What PSP games at the moment require firmware 2.0? All of 'em that have been released after firmware 2.0 was available?
Thanks for any input.

| | | iono about what psp games that require 2.0 right now, but if playing UMD games is ur main thing, who cares about the firmware version. there are also plenty of "downgraders" out there if your into the homebrew, just look around and be careful not the brick ur psp if you get one. 2.6 is okay, you can get rss and all that other stuff with it, thats basically the only + for 2.6. its ur call and ur $$, im pretty sure some guy will crack 2.6...eventually.
iono if that even helped any |

| | | I would prefer to start with 1.50 until Sony introduces must-have functionality with a firmware update...web browsing and ability to change wallpaper aren't quite enough to force me to upgrade...I can always update to 2.6 later...thanks for the info though...

| | u can play any game except gta and socom, everything else will load through fast loader or umd emulator. also there is homebre which allows for background changing. There is a web browser ripped from the game fired up as well. no reason to use 1.51 or higher, as gta and socom should work with 1.5 very soon. check out www.psp-hacks.com for all the stuff you need. :dance2: :dude: :awdance: |

| | | Thanks guntizzle and chode messiah...that's exactly the info I needed...not that interested in changing wallpaper or browsing the web on the PSP...not a huge fan of any of the GTA games, but if you like FPS, it appears that SOCOM is your best choice on the PSP right now...I'll have to go find a fast loader (?) and umd emulator (?) for any of the other games (Twisted Metal, Burnout, SSX, Tony Hawk Remix, ...
Thanks again...
