Hey everybody, just picked this game up the other day. My PSP was v1.5 and I did upgrade to 2.6 :uhoh: But I never used the homebrew stuff anyways, so it was worth it to me.

This game is VERY cool, granted I never played the original for Playstation. So I don't know how much is the same, but I do know there are 4 new unlockable characters... all of which I have yet to unlock.
There are TONS of playmodes in this game. You can do classic arcade style where you fight against 10 opponents to get to the final boss. Throughout these battles, they implemented a storyline for each individual character. I thought the story was the best of any Street Fighter that I have ever played. You get unlimited continues in this mode, and I had to use them sometimes. I'm not sure if the game is difficult by default, or if it automatically tailors the difficulty according to your skill level. Now onto some of the other modes...
Dramatic Battle - you and another CPU can team up against one CPU at the same time (not tagteam).
R. (Reverse?) Dramatic Battle - you fight against a team of 2 CPU's at the same time (not tagteam). This mode is pretty fun.
Final Boss - You go straight to the final boss and fight.
World Tour - This is my favorite mode of all. You travel around the world, fighting just about every character in the game. But lots of times theres a catch. Like you might have to break a character's guard in order to deal damage to them. Some characters can only be hurt by your supers. Lots of cool objectives in this mode. You level up your character, and can buy special abilities such as auto-block, or your regular moves do combos, etc...
I think this is an Alpha thing, but there are "ism's" that you select when fighting.
A-ism - Standard mode, and my personal favorite. You get 3 super bars, and using light punch/kick with a super will use one super bar, two for medium punch/kick, and all three for heavy punch/kick.
X-ism - You only get one super bar, takes about as long to fill as does all three of the A-ism. It might be a little stronger than a heavy super from A-ism, but I'm not positive on that.
V-ism - You charge a super for a certain amount of time, and use a percentage of your super bar accordingly. I don't like this one much because you have to wait and charge the move.
The graphics and sound of this game are superb, that's about all I have to say about that.
My only complaints are...
- Ad-hoc only, not infrastructure.
- L1 (heavy punch) button is difficult to use. But that is more of a PSP problem rather than the game, because it already uses all of the buttons. If the PSP had L2 and R2, that would be great, but it doesn't. (Note: you CAN configure the buttons, but the default setup is optimal IMO)
- No teching. It uses a counter-attack system, which is equally as good I suppose, but will take some getting used to on my part.
Usually a Street Fighter's replay value is only in the multiplayer against friends, which this one definitely has. But the single player has so much to offer, it has plenty of replay value there as well. Overall a great game. Not sure if worth upgrading from v1.5 if you use lots of homebrew, but it was for me.
Hope you guys enjoy the review, and sorry if it was a bit long, or I explained the obvious.
-Chris.
