do we need a new psp?

and they have annouced a new psp, with a camera and built in hard drive and stuff. i have not turned on my psp in a while, i think the battery is completely drained anyways. man, everything is being crammed into one thing now, in other words, cell phones that have cameras and or video, internet, mp3 function...if i wanted all that stuff in one package i would get the "annihilator 3000" cause its the "uuultumate" and it has a microwave, cellphone, machine gun, net launcher and missle launcher and more. --if you got that reference then just wow, i am amazed

i guess we all have to make money eh? is it supposed to compete with the ds light or some, whatever its called?

oh and i have a pen and a pencil and it has an eraser, but man get this, its all in one!

I wonder how much more battery power the hard drives uses over having the system use the memory stick? It seems like the psp battery drains pretty quickly now with just playing movies from the memory stick and games on it.

It just seems like the last few games I've bought for it do not preform that great. It is almost like they try to pack in to much game for the little system to handle well. The latest was x-men legands 2. It is a pretty good conversion for a portable system, but it has some major freeze / laggishness during play at times. It just seems since it is mainly a game system, they should pack in some more power instead of doo-daad's like camera's and hard drives.

We just got one of those 4 gig hard drives for the PSP in at work. It's $200, I wonder if anyone will buy it.

Anbody else see the article about all the movie studios pulling out of the Sony UMD format because no one is buying them? I get a abad feeling this thing is going the way of the Sega Dreamcast......

I don't think studios pulling out of the UMD format will hurt too much. This is Sony, the same company that puts out like ten PS2 games a week in the PS2's prime. They are just going to pump out more titles, plus they will probably pull out a portable Gran Turismo or Tekken or Final Fantasy to keep PSP sales up. Plus Sony has a movie and TV studio. They will probably use their own content to keep the UMD format a viable option.

The one thing I think should happen is that when the price of these 4 Gig memory sticks come down, Sony should just put the content and games on the sticks and make room for other stuff in the next iteration of the PSP.

Even if the studios pull out of the UMD arena, its not the end for the PSP - Its just then end on one feature for the PSP. UMD movies were a mistake, its so easy to transfer a DVD to the PSP and the UMDs are missing all the extras the DVD has plus is not a "pure" for of the movie as they modify it to fit the screen.

Love my PSP units, hardly touch my DS anymore.

Actually the harddrive and camera are just addons to the regular PSP.

A portable Gran Turismo is long overdue. I'm pretty sure UMD movies will come out but primarily movies from Sony studios.

But is pumping out countless games going to help? I don't think so, because more than half will suck badly. Then you get the people who buy the bad games who then realise they suck. Then they become dissilusioned with the psp. These people just need to concentrate on making quality games rather than churning out crap after crap.

The DS on the other hand has been more of a success because it is ORIGINAL. The psp is chock-a-block with ps2 ports. And most psp owners probably have a psp. Sure it may be a novalty to have the same game with you wherever you are. For the the first week. Then it becomes dull. Nintendo have original games, better online play and is quite simply more FUN, and in the end gaming should all come down to that - fun.
