mario kart on DS is easily the best game on a handheld.

//out of the 4 games I've played on handhelds in the past year.

I am having fun downloading demos from the ps store. I t does have some decent utilities on it such as internet radio, skype etc... So far i havent had any problems with the screen it does seem larger than the original one tho. I bought the thing to stimulate the economy...my little contribution for 2009/2010. My next purchase will be a loaf of bread in 2qtr 2011.

Skeletor pwns without cheats!
The PSP would be good if it wasn't for the dreadful load times and the horrible battery. When I had one I'd stick Wipeout on standby/resume and go to play it later that day and dead battery. From reading it seems like it should have held a charge for longer then that. Tried a 2nd one and had the same thing. Finally traded it in for a DS - quick load times and long battery life. (ie. perfect portable gaming device)

The PSP God of War always makes me think about buying another one, but for one game wouldn't be worth it. They should offer that game as a downloadable purchase via the playstation network so I can play it on my ps3.

I agree. That and the New Super Mario Bros. kick butt. I wish Nintendo would get off their arse and make another Super Mario Bros. for the DS.

If you use a custom firmware, you can simply rip your UMD to the memory stick and play straight from there. It's pretty much instant.

I've really never had any issues with battery life and my PSP. I have a launch-day PSP and it's still working great. If I put a game on standby, I can resume it three days later and the battery life is right where I left it off at.

About six months ago I grabbed on of the larger 2200mAh batteries and it's a beast. Before I could get about 4-5 hours of it on the lowest brightness setting. With the larger battery I can get 8.5 hours out of it on the lowest brightness setting. I encoded a bunch of movies at 480p to watch on the PSP and I ended up watching four of the movies on the same battery charge. When the last movie ended, I checked the battery life and it still had another two hours left.

Using the 2nd level of brightness will knock an hour or two off the total time, and the 3rd brightness setting will knock it from 8.5 hours down to 3-4. If you have a custom firmware and have the ability to use the 4th level of brightness, you're only going to get about 1.5 hours of it, but you'll also go blind from the brightness.

I really didnt get another PSP for the games, but more as a portable storage-entertainment device. DO you have to homebrew your psp to rip umd to memory stick?
