| | | PSP > DS .. see new vids I just checked out my morning video game news at Gamespot and was happy to see a new first impression review of the PSP. Along with that, tons of new videos from upcoming PSP games. http://www.gamespot.com/all_updates/...nav_allupdates
As much as I LOVE the Nintendo DS... the AMAZING videos just blows the DS away. Go check out the newest ridge racer video for example, it looks better than most PS2 driving games I've seen.
The coolest thing is the USB port, that connects to your computer. You can upload movies and music right to your psp. I cannot wait :bouncy:

| | | I think PSP is going to be obsolete once PS3 comes out.

| | | Why would a hand held be rendered obsolete by a new console? Did the Gamecube make the Game Boy Advance obsolete. Apples to Oranges.

| | | DS is already out, so I object to you saying PSP>DS when the DS is f'in sweet (i own one) and nobody owns a PSP yet. Sure the graphics and design look awesome, and I might even sell my DS to get one, but they're not here yet and there's probably going to be a 6 month wait for them to reach the US after they're released in Japan. Plus nobody knows for sure if they're going to cost $150 or $450, so why get hyped up this early on? |

| Its only 6 days away... I think it is fair to start making judgements.

| I have a DS too, and I'm not dissing it, it's an awesome machine.
I kept my hype until now. We already know the release price, it will be between $150 and $200. In Japan it will be sold for ~$180 , not bad
Secondly, I don't think you read the preview article I linked to. Gamespot HAS a PSP that has various demos and videos. Check out the videos of the DS games and PSP games. Amazing!
I think the fact that you can view/listen to your own videos and music from your pc, the better graphics, game lineup, etc will make it a far better seller than the DS, IMHO

: 6 th | | I too have a DS, but I am not worrying about which one is better than which. I am going to be buying both of them, so i dont really care.
About "your own videos"...
Well unless you have a bunch of MP4 videos laying around... then you probably wont be able to watch your stuff. I have no problem with this, as I am used to shrinking my dvds to play on my pocketPCs.
I cant wait until the PSP is released in the US. Too bad they havent even given us a specific launch date. All we know is 1Q, but damn...

| | | I did create a DS vs PSP thread, you should have posted on that one. As for the psp, what games do they have coming out that will be that exciting? Or are they just ports from the ps2. |

: 6 th | | New FF7 game. New Metal Gear Game. Gran Turismo (dont know if you can call it a port of the PS2 game, as the PS2 one isnt even out...) and several others.
The launch for the PSP seems better than what we got for the DS, IMO.

| | | I have a DS and I don't think the PSP is better. Sony and Nintendo took 2 different paths in making their new portable. Sony said "Let's take all that's good about consoles into a portable." Nintendo said "Let's remove all the constraints of the TV/couch gaming experience in our portable."
Playing a Mario 64 or Feel the magic, I feel new ideas of gaming are coming. It's why I like nintendo (and Sega) because they reinvent the wheel and have ideas.
I remember Sega Saturn and the game Nights into Dreams. At the same time N64 and M64 came out. They gave reason for the analog controller to give new expereinces. Shenmue redefined RPGs (and I demand a Nintendo DS shenmue).
As to video/MP3s on the DS: it's here already though not free (and not optimized). Since the days of GBA, there have been cartridge to Compact Flash adaptors that allow you to put videos and MP3s on the gameboy. They still work on the DS (at least, most of them do). The device costs some money but it and a GB card is less than a GB memory stick.
