Tony Hawk psp game

Is the Tony Hawk game for psp any good? The review made it sound really close to the ps2 version, but when I watched the movie it looked way to quick. It almost seemed so fast that you can't really tell what ramps are where. I just wondered what the opinions were of the people who have played it, and how does it compare to the ps2 version of the games as far as graphics and such?

Plus the main reason I ask is because I'm going to get one within 3 weeks (or I think if the games are good enough), and the main games I'm looking at are RR, Wipeout, and Twisted MEtal. All 3 of those games have a similar feel to them though, so I want to start out by getting just wipeout. I thought tony hawk would be a good 2nd one, but it looked almost to quick and it looked like the graphics weren't good enough to handle how quick it was.

I dont own Tony Hawk myself, but I know 4 friends that do have it. It is VERY similar to the PS2 version graphic-wise. One major difference is the psp version doesnt seem to have shadows on the characters at all, that is the only major difference - besides that, the textures are just compressed a bit more. The PSP version DOES have 4 more levels than the PS2/Xbox/GC version though.

The only other difference is the control setup. The PSP is missing the 2 other shoulder buttons so they improvise. The 4 face buttons are the same (x = ollie, o = grab or flip i forget, square = whatever o isnt , and triangle = grind). 2 big things that i know bothered some at first were 1) the L shoulder button is the "get off your board and run around" button. I am used to always hitting L and R because on the consoles that flattened out your landing....so i hit it a lot by accident. Also, 2) you MUST use the d-pad since the analog stick is used for camera only.

I know a few people that were really angry when they found out that you couldnt use the analog nub for movement, but everyone got over it quick, and it is played all the time wirelessly around me here.

hoep that helps, if you need any more info ill try to help

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking too that it might also be the quality of the videos that I watched that made it look kinda crappy. I downloaded some good footage of Ridge Racer last night. I was amazed it looks as good as it does. That's what got me thinking last night that the Tony Hawk movies I watched were just poor quality movies instead of crappy looking graphics.

Hey, i have been a big fan of the tony hawk series ever since the first one and then the second one on PC, the game looks and plays very well, and graphics and game play are very true to the pc and ps2 versions.

Cool. I don't think they should charge as much for a psp game as a regular console game though. I think it's nuts that half the psp games out there are 49.99.

Agreed

Really waiting for some PDA type apps and a true browser capability for it.

Really wondering what movies are going to cost. If they cost as much as a regular dvd I will not be pleased

I think they have a few out already, hellboy and a few others I seen at ebgames. I'm thinking they were around 14, but I cant' remember exactly.

I just wish the local ebgames had one to try out and play. I'm just paranoid I won't be happy with it once I get it, or rather won't play it enough to justify the cost. (like 40% of the games I think I have to have :] )

Yea, will be nice to have a browser and such. I read that wipeout has a hack to let you browse, but I'm not sure how much trouble it is to use. Is there an actual code/language and such people can write little apps on and run on their psp?

Im not sure about the apps, Let me start off by saying that originally i was not planning on buying the psp, But i did see a few people at the local EB store by my house and the thing looked amazing. I was hesistant to buy on a friday and actually though about it all weekend before picking the system up after school on monday. The point is, everyone knows buyers remorse? well i had the total opposite. I figured what the heck you only live once. So i ended up buying it and i couldnt be happier! If you invest 40 dollars in a 256mb memory card or better yet a 512 for about 60 you can store your own dvd's on it. The screen is Godly, looks like a micro plasma screen. Another Thing that i love about it are the games! So far i have Untold Legends, THUG, Lumines, Twisted Metal, and ridge racer. And i cant wait for the new titles, Gran turismo 4, Syphon filter!, GTA, etc soo many good games, alot of companies will me making games for this unit so all in all it is a worthy investment. Another thing people dont realize, These disks are 1.8 gigs soo these games have SOOO much content. Every one of these games will keep you entertained with new content for weeks upon weeks. Just my c .02
