PSP Online Question

For games like wipeout, ridge racer, twisted metal and tony hawk, do you need to actually play with someone else that has a psp within range, or can I connect to servers on the net and play people that are not close by?

I just wonder if I'll have trouble finding others to play via wifi with that are close by.

One more question and I'll stop with the psp talk. There were some memory cards labeled "gaming stick" and some that were not. Are they basically the same thing? I noticed that the company had a 512, and the one labeled "gaming stick" was 10 bucks cheaper...I just wondered why.

it's the green one compared to the one right above it.

Not sure on memory sticks but...

I know right now Twisted Metal and Wayne Gretzky are the only online games. I haven't tried either of them but I play ad-hoc all the time with wipeout friends. haven't tested the actual range of it, but i know it goes quite a ways. more of a lan game than online though. there is always tunnel support for these games though.

as for the memory cards, i'm not sure of a difference. maybe the game ones might be already formatted for psp so you can't use em for digital cameras and stuff? not sure on that one though..

COol, thanks for the reply.

I was just looking up Walmarts return policy. I think I might want to buy my psp from Ebgames or Bestbuy, somewhere that I can spend an extra 25 bucks and get like a 2 or 3 year warrenty, so I can just take and exchange it if dead pixals or it breaks.

The walmart where I live has TONS of them though, but I never bought anything from there like a game system. Has anyone had any experience with them, and trying to return something, say...6 months later if it breaks?

For the memory stick, I'm about 99% sure it doesn't matter which one you get. The reason that the blue one is $10 more is because it will come with a full-size memory stick adapter, so that it can be used in Sony products that use Memory Sticks to record media to. I know people that have bought the blue one on Newegg.com to use them in their own PSP's and did not have any problems.

So, bottom line: if you have a sony camera that uses memory stick's, get the blue one (normally the adapter is some insanely high price like $40). . .if you're only going to use it in the PSP, get whichever one is cheaper.
