Reading psp memory stick/cards with your laptop?

My laptop (HP zx5280us) has a memory card reader in it. I wonder if I could get out of buying the extra usb connector cable and just use that to transfer files to my psp formatted memory card? Has anyone tried this, and if so, does it work?

Cool, I'll post if it works. Ahh, I could just take the ol' lappy with me and try it out right there in the store (or in the car), and buy the cable if it does not work. That way it saves me a trip of not buying the cable and getting home and being without one. I was just curious if anyone knew before I go make the purchase today.

More than likely your lappy will not be able to read Memory Stick Duo, because not only is it half the length of a regular Memory Stick, it is also thinner. You would probably have to buy a Memory Stick adaptor to plug the Memory Stick Duo into, then it should be able to fit into your lappy's media reader slot.

My advice is to buy the cable, I find the Duo slot on the PSP to be a bit hard to access, and it's kind of inconvenient to keep pulling out the Memory Stick everytime you want to transfer something. The cable is so much more convenient in this sense. And honestly, the cable is probably like 5-10 bucks

My memory-stick cover on the PSP is very loose.. If I put my hand on it and wiggle (not much) it opens up.. Is that by design, or is my PSP a POS?
