PSP, are they worth it?

Hey guys,

Well, after my previous post about gaming on a airplane, many of you mentioned the size issue for my laptop, a dell 9300. I have a special mouse that works just fine, and a external battery. So a mouse and battery aren't a issue. Even after all the debate, everyone was still saying it will be hard to juggle your laptop on a airplane. I'm wondering, should I get a PSP? I could work out a trade deal but basically I would just be using it on a 5hour flight, 10 hours total, there and back. Now we do go camping a lot, so something like this could be useful. I'm really into FPS so some of the only games i'll play are Dynasty Warriors, movies, that sort of thing.

In this situation is it really worth a PSP?

Or will my laptop make due for those flights and camping trips?

Abosolutely man,They are perfect.Nice and small with Great battery life.Like taking your laptop but smaller and for gaming only. Even has a clock

If you aren't going to use it much just grab a normal GBA and a couple games. Way cheaper (seen them used at Gamestop for $20), though there aren't a whole lot of FPS games on it.

gba to psp is a non issue. GBA has almost no new/good games coming out. DS on the other hand has some good ones. I went with the psp because of the wow factor. A very techie and cool system. HOWEVER, the games right now leave much to be desired. I would like to see some fighting games and platformers. Anything but all these racers and sports games that over populate the system as of now.

they suck if you get 2 or more dead pixels and it sucks when the store you bought it from doesnt want to take it back. even with receipt

the psp has a emulator now. you can play nes and snes games on it along with genesis and gba.
Just dont upgrade your bios.

I find it really useful, though villainous eyes may be attracted on the street if you whip it out.
Its been labeled gadget of the year, and you really cant find a better portable.
Anybody remember game gear? That thing was likee8 pounds..had no battery life with 8 bit gfx. It was cool for its time but the psps shows great design and components.

The PSP is getting out of control with the amount of gadgets on it, its got everything...

yeah, i was in the same boat with my xps2. i love watching anime and playing games, but 17" laptops simply do not fit on a plane for gaming. i have watched a few movies, but planes are pretty bouncy in the first place for fps style games. psp video 9 was wat really sold me ( and other convertors ) being able to convert 5 or so episodes of anime onto my 512 memory stick was amazing. i just plug in some headphones, watch a few episodes, and jam out to a few games of lumines and i'm at my desination every time without the hassle of my bulky laptop. simply amazing!
