SW: Empire at War

Usually, Star Wars games and RTS games leave me disappointed. I like this one though, has some cool things going for it. Comes out next month, I downloaded a demo and played through the 5-part tutorial and single 2-mission campaign they had. Seems like it'll be a good player.

I was too lazy to read the rules, SO I INVALIDATED THIS LINK! Replace the ** with tt or it won't work.

Just bought this game today, still working through the tutorials. At first glance gameplay is very in-depth. Its not you run of the mill AOE type rts. Graphically very nice looking audio is good as well. Ill have more in a few days once I get a grasp on the UI.

I have had this game for a few days now and the more I play it the more i like it. I play this on XPS-Gen 2 with a 6800 ultra. Gameplay is smooth and all graphic options are maxxed, I even have 2x AA running. The game itself has tons of options. Campaign mode where you pick either the rebellion or the empire and try to conquer the galaxy. This mode involves both space and land battles and at this point seems to sufficiently long. There is the always rts present skirmish mode as well. Multiplayer features the usual suspects of 1v1 upto 4v4. At this point multiplayer on the internet is kind of flaky as it is sometimes difficult to negotiate a connection between players. Ok to the game mechanics. All spending in game is based on credits (units, upgrades etc...)credits continously roll in the only way to increase credit rate is to cpature strategic locations such as mines or small(they look like oil wells) platforms. The more locations the faster the credits roll in, no need :light1 to send units out to collect anything(which is very nice)you can concentrate your focus on building your army and wiping out your opponent. As like most other rts games you are limited to a population cap at any given point in time and I have yet to see how to increase it. The neatest thing is even if you are getting destroyed the credits still roll in ( for what you have left) giving you some resources to counter with at all times. This isnt the greatest review in the world but, if your a Star Wars buff you may want it. I give the game a 8 out of 10.:light2 :toot:

Im torn, should I get it or should I not?

I'm saving my money right now for a custom rig... but after playing the demo (with all of the modifications), this game is really sweet!

I'd say it depends how long until you get enough cash for your custom rig. If it's before to long, I'd say hold off and pick it up in a month or two. Might even drop in price. Then again, I never listen to myself and buy the games when they come out. It would be a good one to test your new rig though when you get it...the game is pretty.

I just wish SW:Empire at War would have come out a month sooner. I have four games all in a span on 4 weeks, each week a new game. I bought SW, but I will not get to playing it for another few weeks just because I'm looking forward to the other games a little more. I hate when they go through a dry spell, then release a ton of great games all at once.

Feb 15 - SW: Empire at War
Feb 22 - Fight Night Round 3
Mar 1 - Battle for Middle Earth 2
Mar 8 - Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter

Just picked up and played BFMEII. It is soooooooo sweet. SW and BFMEII are both great overall so far. I'm more of a fantasy buff myself, so will be spending more of the next week on BFMEII.
