Homm V?

Any Heroes of Might and Magic fans on this forum?

I played HOMM I, II, III and IV and enjoyed III the most. I have been wondering whether they would be making a V even though the franchise originally owned by 3DO was taken over by Ubisoft. There seem to be a few rumours of a production team working on it right now over at Ubisoft and very vague release estimate of autumn 2005.

Does anybody have any inside info?

I love this series!!!! IMHO it is the standard for fantasy turn-based. I wish IV had a random scenario generator. That kept it from getting the reviews that the other ones in the series received.
Are there any open source games like this?

i thought 2nd's expansion was awesome remeber having to fight hundreds of bone dragon in one campain in exp. gotta love paladin's power against the undead there =)
