Good RTS Games?

Well, I'm getting a laptop for christmas, and I'd like to buy a few RTS games to play on it. It's an HP zv5340. I've been out of the computer gaming scene for so long, I have no idea what to look for. Do you guys have any sugguestions for RTS games that have come out in the last year? Thanks.

Well, LotR: Battle for Middle Earth just came out earlier this month. There's always C&C: Generals and its Zero Hour Expansion. Rome: Total War is also out now.

Not too many other good RTS games have come out recently. Hopefully the recently announced Red Alert 3 will be good when it comes out (most likely next year.)

I second LOTR:Battle for Middle Earth. If you thoroughly enjoyed the movies, you will love this game. The game has you battle it out thoughout the trilogy as either the good or evil side.

venom8599's other suggestions are great ones too.

Might want to check out some of the older games if you haven't run into them.

Red Alert 2 + Yuri's Revenge is great.
Age of Empires 2 + The Conquerers is still great.
Age of Mythology + it's expansion (forgot the name)
Rise of Nations is good, but not my overall favorite.

As for others, I second C&C:Generals and WCIII.

I went out and bought Rise of Nations on a whim. I haven't played it too much yet, but I was impressed from the few minutes that I did play it.

LotR: Middle Earth also looks pretty good as well. I might go pick that one up. Gotta love Christmas money.

Rome Total War. This is a game where strategy/mangement is first and foremost.

i thought warhammer 40000: dawn of war was a great game....not better than warcraft 3, but a good game to follow warcraft up with.....it's just a little short...so be forewarned...
