EQ2, no comparison. Of course you'll get 90% of the children in here saying WoW and EQ2 Suxes. This thread will be a waste of time if you want the truth on what game is best.

I agree with Wilfox that you might get a lot of posts that will not help you decide which is best. I highly doubt a bold statement as "no comparison" can be made for EQ2 since WoW has such a huge fan base. If EQ2 was such a clear cut winner, then everyone would be playing that.

I personally love WoW. I played EQ and EQ2 a bit, and wasn't a fan of either one. There are tons of fans of each game though, so basically just personal preference. I find that I do not like the more 'realistic' grapics in EQ2 and D&D Online. To me they are not done really well, and leaves it with a sloppy feel when your character is moving...that's just personal preference though.

I'm sure both games have their advantages and disadvantages. I recommend watching the video reviews of each to see what style of graphics you like better, and seeing which system you like best.

Either way, and I know you didn't mention this as one of your options, but I recommend NOT buying D&D online...that one was bad from what little I played.

After reading / watching the reviews, if you still have questions about the games, feel free to post. I'm sure one of us will be able to answer them with as many hours I'm sure we've put into playing MMO's in the past.

I should have said for me there is no comparison. I love the realistic graphics. The feel of being in the game. I'm not into cartoony graphics. I remember playing Summoner a while back, and it was top class at the time and my old computer could run it well!.. well okay. I was walking into the HUGE city, (not sure of the name at the moment) and went to the upper class area and holy monkeys.. that waterfall!! It looks like a REAL waterfall it's moving down like a river. Anyway haha, I like real.

EQ2 used to suck, but the recent updates have made the game much better, I got a lvl 29 necro, but haven't played in a while...I think EQ2 > Wow

I've played both WoW and EQ2. I give them both bad marks.

WoW - can't hold my interest more than 3 months at a time. The content is too easy and the PvP too repetitive. Faction grinding in WoW is required and miserable. On the plus side, WoW is not resource intensive and makes a great laptop MMORPG since anything with a 9700 or better can run it. Short term addicting...like a sugar high.

EQ2 - over done. Sony went too far with the graphics requirements. When it first came out I found it unplayable at any decent looking level of graphics on any desktop or laptop I owned. It works better today, but its still a graphics hog (7800GTX or SLI imperative). The load times are horrendous. I hate the human looking non-human races. Not as addicting as EQ1 was.

D&D Online - Hate the character graphics. Goofy gameplay. Plays great on both my 6800go and x700.

Eve Online - Amazing graphics but zero twitch pvp...targetting computers take all the fun out of pvp. Time based skills means you can level up while not online, but it also means that anyone who started before you will always be better than you. Plays great on my 6800g0 and x700.

EQ1 - still my favorite. Graphics are dated, but it does play well on just about anything with a 9700 and up. The only game to hold my interest every night for years at a time.

it looks and plays just fine on my mobility radeon 9700...load times are fine for an environment that large and populated...my friend has a pretty crummy and obsolete desktop, and it's completely playable on that...

i haven't played it in a while, but i've been pretty bored with all my new games at the same time...i found it pretty enjoyable, provided i had friends to play with...running around solo on the pvp server is a sure ticket to headphones, mice, and small children being tossed around the room in a fit of rage...

been playing ur-quan masters (star control ii), x-com (with my processor slowed like mad), and ufo200 (x-com 1v1 multiplayer)...so much more satisfying...
