Baldur's Gate II. It is a little old. However, it was made by Bioware and it is simply amazing. The story, plot development, characters, ... are all a LOT better than NWN 1 (and I really like NWN 1). Remember, both BG2 and NWN1/2 have/will have tons of user made modules, providing replayability.

And, just so you know, the PS2 has Baldur Gate: Dark Alliance. I played that for a little while, and it was not too bad.

Let me put in another suggestion: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic I. Yes, that's the first one. The second one was horrible, with a half-finished feel and a much more linear storyline. However, the first one is very good. You can develop the story in a lot of different directions and can actually play a truly evil character (most of the time).

^Yes, KOTOR1 was great...just an FYI: If you're playing with an ATI card, you might have serious PC-crashes-every-five-minutes issues...ask me how I know.

Try out Spellforce 2. Its a good combo of RPG/RTS games.

Click me!

Edit: What about MMORPG's? If so...there are sooo many out there right now. Some good some bad. I just got done with a year and a half WoW addiction and i've also heard good things about RF Online.

there is always the Final Fantasy series, its a tad old but nothing says classic like FF7.
If you plan to go old school, emulators for Nintendo NES, SNES, GBC, GBA are literally everywhere is your friend, Roms on the other hand is illegal to download. (personally i own those nintendo system and when i do have a huge urge to play some classics that i may not have, i go to my local used game store and spend a very small amount of money, ebay is also another option)
if u are really into RPG console, go get dragon quest for the ps2, thats at least a 100h game w/o going into details

if u arent into the entire Jap RPG thing, titles liike the following may be your cup of tea

Fable
KOTOR 1 is better then 2 imo
Wizardry 7 very old
neverwinter
oblivion

Currently playing and not enjoying it too too much, I play a belliato on Earth server and the accerions keep camping the portal zone (which u pop out from HQ) making life not so easy for lowbies.
but once u do grind your way up there, (which will take u some time) the pvp is exciting.

Current lv cap is 50, highest lv toon is 45, game has been out since late march, and u have no idea how much pve blows and how lame the grind is until u tried it.

if u are a L1 or L2 player then this is right up your ally.

other cool things they plan on doing in the near future

take over a planet
raid worlds
guild possession of planets

rape and pillage
