Dreamfall: RPG/Adventure

This is a review for an RPG/adventure game called Dreamfall: The final Journey.

To start, I havn't completed the game yet but would like to start a pre-review on it. I've been playing for about a week now and the end is no where in sight at all.

Baisic Storyline (No Spoilers): You're a girl who has a reporter friend that gets mixed up with the wrong story. You're also being communicated by some outside entity that you have no clue what the hell is. Eventually you play as 3 different charecters throughout the game with storylines that cross paths many times. I've BARELY started into the 3rd persons story.

This a pre-determined storyline BUT, with unique outcomes depending on your interactions with the people in the game (So i've read).

Game Play:

This is a very laid back moderately paced game. If you're not into listening and interacting with a story, this game isn't for you. Its very much focused around the interesting story of 3 worlds coming together. 2 of the worlds are what we would call supernatural and the other one would be ours.

Other game Refrences/similarities:
I would like to say this game is a cross between Xenosaga and Tomb Raider: Legends with a different storyline. Its very similar to tomb raider because of the type of adventures you go on. Its basically puzzle solving but, you also have a lot of player interaction and talking to do. Its also pretty realistic when it comes to you (as a player/person) in a world figuring things out. I would give an example, but it would be kind of a spoiler. Unfortunatly, you just dont have a woman doing back flips and dual wielding pistols.

Similar to Xenosaga in one way only. LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS of talking/storyline. There is about 50% of this game that is nothing but story and plot building. More of an interactive book if you will. If you're someone that doesn't want to follow a trippy story, this is not a game for you.

Combat Sytem:

The combat system pretty much bites the big one. Very slow and unresponsive so its easy to get frustrated with it. Luckily though, combat is one of the minimal points of the game. There is combat but, its not very often or sustained ammount of time. Throughout the 3 players you control, they have different weapons to use.

Graphics:

BEAUTIFUL! For all you ATI usesrs, this is an ATI specific game and uses their screen resolutions (like 1280x960 my fav desktop resolution) I personally cant get enough of staring at my screen oogling at how AWESOME it looks. The highest playable resolution is 1360x1224 which I play at. Makes all the modles look awesome and the scenery great!.

The only gripe I have about the gfx are the charecters during the storymode. They're very lifeless. The mouth annimation is the best i've ever seen but, their bodies are solid...dont move really. This kind of changes as the game goes on...but not so much.

Audio
This game has one of the best dubbings i've ever seen. Fantastic voice actors from different accents of the world. The main charecter has an Austrailian accent (I can tell by the way she say no). There are middle eastern voices, ENGRISH speaking charecters, and British. I'm highly impressed with the audio dubs.

Screenshots!!!!!

I only review games that I'm really enjoying and this is a very laid back enjoyable game. Just turn it on, play it and enjoy.
