Guild wars, factions, or Neverwinter Nights

Ok, i am looking for a good rpg that will last me a while and not have a monthly fee. Graphics are not a problem, my computer can handle anything. I think i have narrowed it down to three games, Guild Wars, GW: Factions, or neverwinter nights. I would say that i am a casual rpg player, i want something that i can pick up and just go online and play and not get too bored. I looked into guild wars, cause i read it got some pretty good reviews and seemed to fill this nitch, however, i dont know the difference between the two that are out. i know that each is its own game, and you can also combine both. would factions be a better one to start with?
then there is nwn, i have a friend with this game and the benefits of buying it would just be that i have a friend to play with. i know it is a more serious game that requires a bit of learning. i have played the single player missions of it though, just never anything online. also i know it is cheaper, but lets look at them in terms of gameplay and lifetime.

so there it is, what do you all think?

What about Oblivion? Its single player only but I hear its great.

GW is supposed to be very good too and has multi support

I used to play NWN constantly; it is one of my favorite games of all time. With NWN, it is the community that makes the game so amazing, so you will defiantly get your money's worth. A few of the best servers have gone down in preparation for NWN2 however, so you might want to wait for that one.

Having been a die hard Morrowind fan, I was a bit disappointed with Oblivion in comparison. It is without a doubt a great game, but it wasn't the greatest role playing game.

I have guild wars, and it is one of the best made games I have ever seen with respect to its actual programming, but the community leaves something to be desired.

Neverwinter Nights 2 should be out by the end of the month, so you might want to wait for it, it looks very promising.

what about guild wars vs the newer factions?
i see that factions got a lower rating, but i suspect that was just because it had a bit of the old game in it. would a new comer be better off with factions over the original?

I think you might need to have the original to play factions, but I'm not sure, haven't played it.

response to that, no you dont. each can be its own game. i have heard factions is more pvp oriented. since factions is newer, i think i might go with that. any other thoughts?

I haven't followed guild wars too much lately, but I know that the third campaign, Nightfall, should be coming out this month. You might want to check that one out too, unless of course you were looking for something to play right away.

I would suggest waiting for NeverWinterNights 2. When I bought Guild Wars, it was very fun to play, but as I kept going it got pretty boring. Basically, in my view, Guild Wars' objective is to get skills then go into PvP. Dont get me wrong though, Guild Wars is a good game and the pvp is great, but I guess it comes down to what you like to do. PvP, RolePlay, etc.

I still think you should buy WoW...its worth your money.
