| This game is horrible. I've played quite a few MMO's (WoW, AoC, CoH, DnD, UO, EQ, SW:G, LoTR:O) and this is one of the worst so far.
They say it gets fun past level 20, but who the hell wants to play a boring ass game through level 20 in hopes that it might become fun? I recommend WoW or Lord of the Rings Online. Both are good games. Age of Conan ... not a good game.
One poster on the forums pointed out that it's coming out for both PC and Xbox. Once I read that, it made me realize that is probably the reason it sucks so bad. They had to make it playable by PC and Console owners. Not a good thing from what I can tell.
Here is basically what I wrote on the forums as my first post "When does this game get fun?"
I like the core gameplay of AoC. The combat seems interesting, the spells and character creation are good.
I've played this game through lvl 11. I am wondering, when does it actually become fun? So far this game is lacking big time in the quest and fun factor department. I just finished up going to the volcano and doing that part of the lvl 10-11 quest. They are very linear and mindless.
For example, there is basically one path to follow to get to quests. (It's like they have a dungeon crawler hidden as a MMO) Not only is there one path to the NPC you have to save or reach, but they mark it with a big X. Just seems odd.
Anyway, my point is to ask if it gets better in the levels say 15 or 20? I'm looking for areas where you can get many quests, and you have to actually explore the land to complete the quests. An example is LoTR:O or WoW. Both offer big open areas that you get to explore and you aren't limited to a path or two.
I'm not trying to be total forum flammer, I'm just wondering if this gets better or if it stays mindless throughout.
(what makes the whole mindless quest even worse is that all your characters have to go through the exact same dribble)

Some posters followed up saying the game opens up and becomes fun after level 20. Well, the games newb/tutorial is basically the exact same for each race/class you roll, and there are 12 classes. If you want to try out various classes, you are going to have to level each class through the same linear, boring area until you reach level 20. Not good.
The game is rated for mature audiences, but the quest system is so mindless that a 5yr old could play this game. They literally give you a limited path you can go, have an arrow on your mini-map where the quest item is, and mark the quest item/destination with a big X. I have no clue why they would make a new MMO with such a shallow starting area, and make it last for 20'ish levels.
They did the same thing with City of Heroes, but at least with that game the newb/tutorial area lasted 1 level, and you could bypass it for your other characters you created. This pretty much locks you into brain dead gaming for 20 levels per character.
There are a couple of good things about this game, but they are not at all good enough to warrant spending 60$ on this. For those that are looking for a new MMO, look elsewhere. Wait until they release a free trial / download and try it out before spending any money on it. They didn't do justice that is the awesomeness of Conan comics / books.
