True enough. Meh, some require a bit more skill then others. I think the main part I didn't like was the content. There just wasn't enough content between levels 1-20 that was fun. (then again, I could only stand it for about 12 levels)
Basically, with Conan they start you in the beginning area. They have you go down a trail, usually fighting 1-2 guys at a time. Not having to worry about pulling more then 1-2 mobs and fear getting killed. There was no open world aspect to it at all with what I managed to play. They say it becomes more open world after lvl 20.
Now look at an older MMO like WoW. For example, the Tauren starting area since it's basically been the same since beta. You start off in a village. They give you the basic quests like any other MMO ... kill this, kill that. The main difference that I like is that the area is open. The quests say crap like "go north-west and find blah blah". You then get to explore around searching for whatever it was that you have to find. At around lvl 4-6 you have to fight a mini-boss. You explore a cave with some boar'ish humanoids. At lvl 6'ish you get to go to an even more open area and continue on from there.
In WoW, by lvl 12 I would have gotten to explore the initial area, a 2nd bigger area which surrounds a 2nd village and the Tauren city of Thunder Bluff. You would then move on to the area known as the Barrens. One other thing to keep in mind, if you started a Tauren and didn't want to do the Tauren quests, you could go to the Orc/Troll starting area, or the Undead starting area. Three completely different areas to choose from. With Age of Conan, I got to walk down a few paths and kill a few mobs. From there, they sent me to a starter town where I got to walk down some more paths and kill a few more mobs. Everything is really shallow and path based. There was a quest that sent me to an island, but the island was small, and the trees and path's limited it to more path based venture. One thing to keep in mind, besides perhaps some class based quest, every character you create in Conan will have to do this same area. For AoC being new and having some good MMO's come out years before it (CoH/WoW, LoTR:O), it should have been better from the start.
Anywho ... just my thoughts as to why I didn't like it.
