 : 78 th | | | Hellgate: London Beta Woes Don't Worry Devs
If you're lucky enough to be playing the Hellgate: London beta you probably know about all the bugs that are popping up. Well, the guys at Shacknews have it in good faith that the developers of the game simply aren't concerned because, well, this is a beta silly! Quote:
Throughout the testing phase, Flagship community managers have continuously stated that the various beta builds are outdated in comparison to internal versions of the game.
"[The] changes we've been working on have not been integrated into the beta yet, which means that particular Hellgate experience is way behind the times," reiterated Sulic. "We do, however, hope to release a substantial beta patch in the near future, which should bring our test up to a level of quality that's more representative of the final release."
A new patch released yesterday brought sorely lacking social features to the game, but also introduced a round of new problems. This process is hardly atypical for a beta test, but with only two weeks left, Flagship is certainly cutting it close.
"Basically, it all boils down to Patch 0," explained Sulic. "Since our Hellgate multiplayer servers require users to create an account and login with us, we have the ability to incorporate fixes all the way up until launch and release them as a mandatory patch, our number zero."
| As is noted in that news post, Halloween (which is the proposed release date of this game) is coming fast...they better be trick and treating their asses off at Flagship Studios!

| | | they can't use rhetoric like "near future" to describe patch releases on a beta, so close to release. "near future" has an unspoken time frame of weeks or months.
the thing's releasing at the end of October! two weeks away! He needs to say "we have a beta patch slated for downloading by week's end"

| Dev's like to give few details about time frames... You see if you have to go over x date you get to say, well we did say "the near future"...
Its best that way... zomg for the dev's at least...

| | | I'd probably do the same, but the developer's probably need to tell marketing and sales not to push the release date out the door to the consumer, 'cuz it's making the devs look silly as they continue to use "near future" and "down the road" only two weeks before the proposed launch.
*I know, I know - the launch date could change*
