because private servers crash on an average of about every 5 minutes, they are full of bugs and glitches, and have nowhere near the amount of players or game support that blizzards servers have.

To play any game in front of your computer for hours at a whack makes you a fucking dork and a nerd. I am sorry, it is true. The reason people make a blanket statement about WoW or fantasy generated games is because it is not socially cool. Well FUCK ME sides ways and call me teck. If being socially acceptable in the eyes of the masses is what makes you so fucking happy then by all means, tell them you play Counter-Strike. An Online Fantasy game where you pretend to defuse bombs and rescue hostages. Tell the masses you play on a team with people you most likely never met and that you post videos set to PWN music to brag to others about your l33t gameplay.
WoW could be modern day, fanatasy, elves, naked women fighting battles, cartoons, etc...I could care less. I like it because it is challenging, the game always changes. The absolute greatest thing about me playing WoW? Finding out that half you fuckers that bash it play it, have played it, or want to play it.

WoW can't be that bad. Over 10 million play it and still rising. I laugh at the people who put down WoW but their avatar in steam or spray in css is a WoW pic. And those vids that people post of CSS are so dumb. CAL is not a sport. you vid is not gonna make it on Sport Center.

I now have two cousins who are loser leech deadbeats who have lost their jobs, moved back home and play WoW all day. Are their parents partially at fault? Sure. They're enabling an addiction. They fit about every symptom of a drug addiction. They deny a problem, they hide their usage, they cut off social activities to do their habit instead, they'll steal to get a fix, yada yada yada.
Individual games names aside, here's why I think the MMORPG is different from an FPS. The MMORPGs start off wimply and it's easy to get to the next level. But it progressively gets harder and harder and takes more and more time to go up a level. It generally costs money to play.You max out.. where do you go? They release an expansion with NEW LEVELS!
Sure, people can get lost in any game. There's been people who literally play Freecell all day. But it's rare. You see Steam Friends lists of people who play CS:S 40 hours a week. It's essentially a job at that point. but the bad cases you hear about (Like that dude who killed himself over Everquest), it's the MMORPGs that you hear of.
