these are great deals - when you can grab a cheap IDE raid setup and 4-5 of these drives, you can put together a sick backup and storage system.

*FYI: I had three of my Fraterinty brothers' MAXTOR HDD's burn out/fry on them. Just a heads up.

In my experience when dealing with hundreds of drives, the failure rate is fairly consistent across all brand when the environments are consistent...

But still, we all have our favorite drive brands.

yeah, i think teck's right, but I don't buy Maxtors either. Of course, I've had Seagate's and WDs fail, and others, but I usually buy Seagates or WDs anyway.

Yeah, i saw that deal on Newegg yesterday, but I think ZZF might be cheaper.

I'm conflicted, I keep stopping myself from buying a new laptop, and I have enough room right now on my desktop, but I could use a terabyte for the HTPC to store movies, so I'll prob pick one up.
