at first I was going to make a smartass comment about them being IDE drives...but then I thought if a person has a lot of spare parts/or an old system around the house, then you could easily create a home server, and this would help in that cause...

lol i remember back in the days of my old computer when i had only 10gb and had uninstall literally everything b4 i could install something new...

Also:
  • Even newer Motherboads come with at least 1 IDE
  • In my experience IDE CD-Drives are a little more expensive than SATA drives, so if your like me you buy a sata DVD-Burner because its better and $1-$4 cheaper...
  • These IDE drives are between 17-20 cents per GB... If you just want to store files (Movies, Music, Pictures, Pr0n) , these are nice, especally if you get an enclosure...
  • As you mentioned great for an old PC or server...
