    sR Origins?

Just curious how sR came to be? A friend was asking me this and I of course had no idea. Who are the original members? Who funds the servers/website/prize giveaways? How is it tied to notebook forums? Is CAL the only gaming league sR teams play in?

    Re: sR Origins?

It all started a long, long time ago in a land far, far away... wait, wrong story.

We started it up last fall, the owners of PCTorque and NBF decided to make a gaming site. I guess you could say we started with the CS:Source thread in the Alienware General section, then grew from there. There was the original NBF Shed source server, and I think there was a BF2 or some other server they hosted. Then we started up strafeRight, got the Source servers and BF2 servers rolling, had the first website up, this March we did the site we have now.
The Source team is in CAL and CEVO, I think sR3 is in TWL.

That's what I remember off the top of my head, Craig can tell you better.

yup.. the first "official NBF server" was owned by FO... thrill's server... if anyone remembers... thats how Yankee and I met, Craig played there... Taxi... and a few others...

luke and company decided to get their own server which was a success... we've been adding to it ever since...

Yeah the FO server is where i played most of my CS:S source in 2005. It was also a great server with good people and good admins (at least when the admins weren't fooling around because they were bored..*cough*..Fred..*cough*). No offense to fred. He was a great player when he wanted to be, and FO was many hours of nonstop fun, as is sR. I guess playing on FO is how i came across sR, and i was first amazed that the awp wasn't banned. Once i played a few rounds with it i was hooked.

    back hall nades ftw
