    sR behavior FTL...

Now I know sR is strict on porn, racism, swearing to much, spamming and overly immature behavior. I spend a lot of time on vent and listen to sR radio and I noticed that the atmosphere is very different. On vent and on the radio we talk about sex, drugs, violence and say pretty much whatever comes to mind, we even have a room on vent called the orgy room. Now I dont have a problem with all of this because its all in good fun and we all join in. The only problem I see is that to anyone that is new to sR it might seem we're a bit hyprocritical. We ban people for much less than what we ourselves do on both vent and on the radio. I believe sR is a great community but maybe we should take a look at our server policies, vent and radio policies. Perhaps we can come to a happy medium wherebody can still have fun in a slightly more mature enviroment. I've had personal intances where I've felt uncomfortable do to sexual innuendos aimed at me. On a normal bases I get along with the sR community without any instances of insult. It only seems that lately the level of immaturie behavior has risen. I think sR as a community needs to step back and reevaluate its discourtesy towards each other.

It would be interesting to see how StrafeRight feels about this.

    Aphro,
I'm shocked that you didn't come to me with this sooner. And I'm VERY SORRY this occured!! I have always listened very closely to the topics and messages directed at you as you are one of our few female FPS'ers and I want you to always feel comfortable and at home in vent/game.

I have never heard anything in my limited time playing with you but rest assured that does not mean it has not happened. I know how people can be when admins are around.

If anyone makes you feel uncomfortable in any way, shape or form please bring it to the attention of mysel fo any other admin you may see online at that time.

We have a strict policy about this type of thing and I will personally not stand for anyone feeling anything less than at-ease in vent/game.

Vent should really only be a place where the four letter words pop out on occassion, and never directed at anyone in a hateful manner at that.

I hope we all can agree that the vibe we have needs to be closely guarded at all times so that everyone feels at home

Let me also add that I am truly sorry that you have ever felt uncomfortable at strafeRight in any way.

Let it be known that anyone making anyone else feel other than comfortable is going to get a foot in their cyber-ass.

    Bet on it

And where the hell is the 'Orgy' room? I'll fix that immediately. Totally unacceptable

I have to agree with Aphrodite. as most of you know she is my girlfriend and we live together. On many occasions I have had to listen to comments about her that well just piss me off. It has finally come to a point that she made this thread so i think it is time to step back and grow up as a community. I am there with her when she feels uncomfortable and ive had enough of it. Most of what people say and talk about is fine ,I even join in. Both me and Aphro are far from prude. the only time i have a problem is when people make comments aimed at my girlfriend (what can i say I love her) any of you would feel the same way if you had a girlfriend on sR other then that im cool. I do however think it is a bit hypocritical to ban people for half the stuff we ban for and then go into vent and say half the stuff we all say including me. Im not perfect and either are any of you, things will be said that are offencive to someone but we need to tone some of it down.

Just to clarify also, if I find a member in vent breaking any rule that I enforce in the servers, I (and I'm fairly sure I can speak for all the vent admins here) will warn / kick as neccesary.

This applies to everyone: Please, if you have a problem with another member on anything sR related, come to an admin and alert us to the problem. We will be more than happy to deal with and resolve any issues.

That said, swearing has never been anything I've banned for. I've kicked for disruptive swearing, that is, swearing in extreme excess, but that qualifies more under the topic of spam. As for porn, while porn sprays are not allowed in game, I am under the assumption that talk about porn and other naughties (so long as it's reasonable and not particularly directed at someone) is not worthy of repremand.

Again, if you have any problems, please come to an administrator for assistance, we're all very willing to help.

If reevaluation is in order, then I fully admit that I am most likely one of the big offenders. I live and work in a pretty edgy environment, and I may have crossed several boundaries that I didn't realize existed. If I have seriously offended ANYONE in the strafeRight community and am unaware of it, then I am adament when I say I want you to let me know so that I can adjust my actions accordingly. Contact me personally via pm, and I will arrange to communicate with you via more personal means to more adequately address whatever issues you have with me. Communication, however, is the first big step in this issue.

I'm a proud man, but I am not above an apology- be it public or private. I am also not above resigning my position on strafeRightł or to leave the community if my prescence continues to offend or create an uncomfortable environment for other members of the community. I certainly hope that it does NOT come to that, and I don't believe it will.

Having such a room, by my belief, is unnacceptable. I think swearing is OK, when you die really bad, and just wanna say a couple swear words to let off some steam, but I definitely do not like excessive swearing or spamming. Talking about violence...well that's a given when you're playing Counter Strike: Source . Drugs: talking about alcohol is pretty normal, but spamming about how you got stoned in your dorm room last night: no no no. Lewd topics on Vent are rather improper. I'm thirteen, and I don't tolerate anything more obscene than Teen rating. CS:S is rated Mature for violence, and for violence only! Parents don't always look at the rating letter and make a judgement. They read the descriptions and decide whether their child is easily tempted to swear, easily misled by the glamorization of violence.

I'm 13, and I like guns. I am against killing. The only thing that supercedes my hatred for killing is patriotism. But I like guns. I'm interested in the design, caliber, power, etc. I don't like them because they kill people. I strongly believe in the above, but not all kids do. So I totally support the fact that the CSS experience should amount to no more than what the ESRB says it does: violence.

One way to solve the problem is to speak out and tell the people, "Hey, that's not really that cool..."

I know I sometimes say stuff, and when nodody takes it as bad, I see nothing wrong with it, as long as its not like racial or insane profanity, etc.

But if you see a problem, say something about it on vent. If I know someone is offended by something, I'll try to never do it again in your prescence, and sometimes I'll just cut it out altogether. But it still takes the person letting me know what it is that I'm doing wrong before I can take any action myself.

And I have to agree that the guys in vent have gotten out of hand, and its half because we're just sort of slipping out line every so slowly, and the other half is because we're a bunch of crazy dudes  (and we really don't mean any harm by what we say )

So yeah, if anyone finds anything offensive in any way, speak up about it on the spot. I can't really vouch for everyone, but you can rest assured that I'll do my best to never cross that line again.

Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.

    solved

and yes, the best situation is for us all to police each other when needs be. I'm sure you've all heard me ask people to adjust their mic inputs, ect...its nothing big, just trying to make it comfortable for us all.

Same thing should apply with content. self police

The main thing to holding up the sR community is in looking out for each other (just like it's a REAL community). If we can do that, we'll all get along.

Not unlike this banana and alien, who choose to embrace variety rather than hate it!
