The End Of An Era...The Beginning Of A New One!

Ladies and Gents,

I just wanted to make an official announcement that we've decided to take down our long lived and highly popular and ranked Battlefield 2 server and replace it with another Battlefield 2142 server.

This decision has been made with the full recognition of all of the people that made our 24/7 Karkand BF2 server the top ranked server in the world for months at a time.

We are truly and honest thankful to everyone who plays on and helps foster the community spirit of StrafeRight in our servers and on our website. Those great people are the #1 reason that server did so well for so long.

But as with anything in life, especially game life, everything has a natural cycle or course of events. With BF2 seeing diminishing numbers of overall players due to various reasons (most of which is 2142) we feel it is necessary to provide the masses with the stage for which they obviously would like to perform.

So please, again, accept my sincere gratitude from all of the admins and staff here at SR when I say 'Thanks for making sR BF2 so awesome for so long!'

Here's to another long life cycle of the Battlefield franchise at StrafeRight in the form of two kick butt 2142 servers

ok so because EA/Dice released a patch that totally screwed the system 1 of the most popular servers out there dies...makes no sense and probably upsets more than just me because bf 2142 is a truely inferious game takes no skill its perfect for the noobs but what about the people that like a challenge honestly reconsider and bring back a full fledged bf2 server because until this freakin patch we were on top of the world and your going to lose a lot of your base by doing this anyway thats all i gots to say and again BF2 FOR LIFEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!! haha

I didn't count on DICE trying to sabotage BF2 when I made that comment.

Lets face it... the sR BF2 server was doing great until the 1.41 patch was released. I was talking with teck and I told him as sad as it is the sR being too fast on getting the new patch up hurt the server badly. The 1.41 patch STILL isn't on the EA site. More people are still playing 1.40 than 1.41. For 3 megs worth of fixes you have to download nearly 600 megs

Even now, I'm looking on game-monitor 7,200 BF2 players 6,700 BF2142 players. BF2 reached its population peek about a month or two after release. BF2142 versus BF2 it's no contest 2142 is a failure compared to BF2 in that regard numbers don't lie.

It's sad the sR BF2 server had to go but it's really sad for the reasons it had to go. It was doing just fine all the way until the 1.41 patch was released and immediately placed on theserver. In all honesty if you just had been patient and given it a few more days everyone else would've finally rolled over to the 1.41 patch and the server would've started filling up again.

I still love BF2 and I still want to play but we'll need to find a new server to do that on.

The whole reason I joined sR was becasue of BF2 , as much as I like playing with the guys on 2142, I like BF2 more.

First City Maps (which was the best server for bf2 out there) and now Karky/Jalalalalalalalalalalabad.

very very sad.
That friggin patch is huge, I'm with Bill, 1.41 should not have been put up so soon. As of last night still no notice on EA of it. I had to DL from some figgin UK site.
