Don't get ahead of yourself there. A lot of people use Linux, yes, but I'm pretty sure more people use OS X nowadays. Considering how many systems Apple has been selling and the fact it's taken over Dell in selling systems last quarter.

OS X is a commercial OS with commercial support. This will be a far more valuable platform than Linux.

Anyway, they didn't say XP was not supported. The fact that it uses the Frostbite engine means it should fully support DX9. Battlefield: Bad Company for the 360 uses the Frostbite engine and that's DX9. This is just leaked information and given the time between now and anywhere remotely near release, things are bound to change extremely.

I support their choice if they choose not to support Linux. There's no money to be made in it. There's just not enough Linux users that are gamers that are actually going to go to the store and buy a copy of the game for Linux. The time and money EA would have to put into it would counter the sales it would make.

Leaked infos about it.
I hope it will turn out good unlike BF2142.
2142 may not have been wonderful but it was a lot of fun to play despite the annoying bugs and ctd's. EA games usually are fun but filled with errors unfortunately.

most of it sounds good, except for the XP and some other things but it sounds good on paper. Hope they don't go and fuck it up like the last one, piece of sh!t game. For some reason I get the feeling that EA's promissing way more than they can pull off, but if they do get it to work it should be awsome. I'm just not going to hype myself up yet.... they should fix BF2 for now instead, dumb bastards.

the maps had better be 1.5 times bigger than the 64 player versions in BF2.

problem with that idea is BF2 is an outdated game now, which i disagree with.

It's Battlefield 3 because it is on a new engine. Battlefield 1942, the expansions, and Vietnam were on the same engine as Battlefield 1942. Vietnam was on an updated version of the engine but still the same engine. Battlefield 2, the boosterpacks, special forces, and Battlefield 2142 were all on the same engine Battlefield 2 was built on. Battlefield 3 will be built on a totally new engine.

With the infantry based maps, they should create buildings that more than one room and window. Less linear really, even for the vehicle based maps.

80 ppl on a map...... = 2gb mininum

But with too many open doors and buildings it will become a goose hunt to find someone. They should have a good amount of the buildings accessible but not too many when it comes to a point you can't find anyone. It will make it easier for the other team to win tickets but who wants to play a game without killing anyone?

I'm looking forward to it. I don't like the bugs in the BF games but they are still fun for me.

The Frostbite engine looks to be good. If you want to get a feel of how Battlefield 3 will be, then check out Bad Company when it's released. It's the same engine. If Battlefield: Bad Company looks good, plays solid, is stable, etc., then I think it will be great. I'm hoping after doing two different engines, they've at least learned better ways to do things.
