Tips for creating a good quality spray / decal?

Anyone know of a good tutorial on creating a quality spray / decal? Recently I have seen a couple that looked outstanding. These were obviously images created in PS or Gimp, not jpg's scaled down.

I have an idea for a spray but was looking for specifics on canvas size, color palette, ideal file format...i.e. tga vs png.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thanks,

png is great quality, tga makes transparencies, canvas is I think 286x286, and I will make one for you if you want, the problem is I dont know a site that hosts targa files so id have to give u a png that you would have to convert urself, im pretty sure duke or dan or one of them is also good at photoshop
