| | | Valve To Nerf Team-Fortress 2 Idle Cheaters
It looks like Valve isn't happy with people using third party apps to help pad their in-game time to earn goodies. Anyone remember the days of Diablo2 and Rust Storm?? Quote:
Team Fortress 2 players that made use of external programs to earn random item drops in the game are now being punished for their ways, according to a new Valve blog post.
"Over the next few days we'll be removing all TF2 items that were earned using external idling applications," said Valve's Erik Johnson, who noted that 4.5% of TF2 players will be affected by the measure.
In the future, users caught using external programs to idle in Team Fortress 2 servers will have all of their items wiped.

| | | The application was built off the Source SDK, and Valve never gave any forewarning of it being considered cheating. This is no different than people logging into Idle Achievement maps to get hats.
Valve is handling this like idiots. If they ban this, then label people cheaters, they should do the same to all achievement maps.

But seriously, not much point... hats/items are overrated anyway.

I really don't mind everything earned from idling was taken away, I don't mind valve told me not to do it anymore, but being label a cheater, then announcing it to the rest of the community? That is lame.
