    Battlefield: Bad Company 2 FOV

    I've heard some people asking about changing their field of view (FOV) in Battlefield: Bad Company 2, specifically looking to increase it from the default 55. Here's an animated gif that should help players understand how changing the value will impact their game.

    Many thanks to the EA UK community, which is where this image was originally posted.

    To change your FOV (and many other settings), edit your settings.ini file which is found in your Documents/BFBC2 folder.

    That is a really cool Gif. Right now I'm at 82 so far so good I wasn't a big fan of 55.

    I used to play around with this in Q2, and I found I always had a hard time playing in anything other than the default. I realize there's greater peripheral vision, but it just seems to stretch shit out in front of you.. I can't deal with it. I think that game had a 90 FOV

    Wow that is a big difference. Maybe I'll be able to see Tao coming up from my flank to knife me now and blast him in the face with my M60.

    did you really just ask if Bo has his cwp?

    he shot his name into the application form from 1000 yards... while on a Segway... One handed with his USP in .45ACP... While doing pushups AND eating his sandwich...

    I've been running at 75. I tried 90, which looks fine with scenery, but if you stand so that a solider in next to you at the edge of your FOV, you'll notice that they look distorted with a fish eye effect. I haven't tried the lulzworthy 200 yet.

    Yeah I am rollin that 359...

    But seriously, there is also a nice tweak in your other ini file in that folder to change the audio from 1/3/4 to 2, 2 = hardware instead of software rendering. Might bump your FPS up a bit, sure did for me.
    Code:
    if (C4 + JEEP)
      jihad_jeep = 'HAALLALAALALALALA!';
    else
      jihad_jeep = 'SOON.';

    BTW, in the gif you will notice that 200+ lets you enter vehicles behind you.
    Code:
    if (C4 + JEEP)
      jihad_jeep = 'HAALLALAALALALALA!';
    else
      jihad_jeep = 'SOON.';

    Re: Battlefield: Bad Company 2 FOV

    Some corrections:

    The FOV limit is 100. Whoever did that GIF just tried setting it to 200 and saw a difference and thought it was 200. It actually just clamps to 100 if you go over it. You can't really go over 180 degrees (179.99999999999). This is pretty much true for all game engines.

    And the thing about the audio, that doesn't change between software or hardware. That simply changes the in-game setting between HiFi, Headphones, War Tapes, etc.

    There is no hardware audio support in this game. I think there is none just because of their dynamic sound engine. They're doing stuff that hardware just can't do. There are some great reads on the audio engine and it's really quite amazing how they do it.

    Edit:
    I'll back up that claim about there being no hardware support.
