US Supreme Court Takes Case To Decide Video Game Law

Yikes...this could be good or very bad depending on the outcome:

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Supreme Court will decide whether free speech rights are more important than helping parents keep violent material away from children.

The justices agreed Monday to consider reinstating California's ban on the sale or rental of violent video games to minors, a law the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco threw out last year on grounds that it violated minors' constitutional rights.

I might be flame bait...But I really don't care either way as long as they don't try to ban them altogether I do however think they should hold the movie industry to the same standards.

    hehhe

Afik reality is most game stores wont sell M rated games to people under 17 anyway so adding a law is mostly irrelevant. There are laws about certain things people under 18 can't buy and im ok with that. I think parents should have a say in many of these things.

I don't really believe in ratings, since we don't have them on writing, but I guess visuals are different. God knows you can't goatse in text (no, Denny, ASCII doesn't count).

So movie-type ratings are okay with me. I don't see all that much of a point unless there's realistic nudity. You can just send me those.

The 9th Circus court does it's very best to override the will of the Californian people whenever they can. The people vote to ban gay marriage, the 9th Circus strikes it down. Then the issue goes to a state constitutional amendment, then back to the 9th Circus.

    This will be no different.

Edit: 9th Circus court rulings are overturned by the Supreme Court more than any other court.
