    Battlefield 3 Control Setup

Okay, so this is the first battlefield game I've ever purchased or played. Whatever. I don't care.

Knowing that you can control more than one type of vehicle in this game, what setups do you have? Is it possible to change from mouse and keyboard to a Joystick/controller/flight stick? I can't imagine that it would be fun flying a chopper or aeroplane with a mouse and keyboard.

What do you use? I suppose I would just use my PS3 controller that I have plugged in to my computer to fly around, if it's possible to jump back and forth from controller to mouse and such. I would imagine that a tank would be fine to control with a mouse. Helps me out here! I want to be prepared!

    Re: Battlefield 3 Control Setup

They claimed that they would have joystick support at launch, but I haven't been able to get in-game to see for myself. In all previous Battlefield games you can bind a separate key set for each (Infantry/Vehicle/Air) and can mix and match any peripherals you have connected. In BF2 I used Keyboard/Mouse for infantry/vehicle and a joystick for air without any issues.

In BF3 beta they did not have joystick support yet and my one attempt at flying a jet resulted in me flying in circles for 2 minutes and smashing into the ground while trying to fire on some tanks. I'll either need to massively increase my mouse sensitivity or fly with a joystick again...lol.

    Re: Battlefield 3 Control Setup

when I looked at the key binds in options, the right pane showed Joystick properties.

and aka, I leave everything at default except a few things like crouch toggle (changed it to c, x is dumb)
that way, if your game ever needs to be reinstalled, you won't have to reconfigure your controls every time.

    Got the New Video Drivers?
Do a tracert to the server and post results here.

Turn everything down to minimum, If the lagging persists It will probably be your net connection. Turn off anything thats downloading or running in background.

I just updated my video drivers.

Not sure how to do a tracert to the server, so I did one to straferight.

    Code:
    C:\Users\Chad>tracert www.straferight.com

    Tracing route to straferight.com [67.222.1.250]

I have crouch/Prone mapped to the 1st thumb button, and reload to the second. I also have knife on the scroll wheel click for faster knifing. I tend to use these settings in all FPS.

    Re: Battlefield 3 Control Setup

My G5 won't register in the BF3 binds as a mouse button, but I found that if I set the thumb button in the Logitech software to a keystroke like " ] " or something else unused then I can just map it as a keyboard bind inside Battlefield.
