    Soldner: Secret Wars

FINALLY, something to replace battlefield1942. I've been playing bf for a very very long time now, and quite frankly, i've grown sick of it, since I can pretty much can out score everyone that I come up against (not to brag or anything, but its the truth). Soldner secret wars looks to be the key to my problem . There should be a demo of it soon, but i hear that the game will be like a mix of battlefield, operation flash point, and counter-strike. You can buy vehicles and guns, and the graphics are supposed to be nice, with destructable terrain and buildings.

    Heres some links:

if soldner interests you, you should also check out joint operations which is currently in beta now (i'm beta testing it) and it's shaping up very nicely. terrain is not destructible as in soldner, however they have lots of vehicles, both ground and air that you can jump into and ride. it's like operation flashpoint but with 2004 graphics. recently during the beta, they opened up a 128 player server. Yes, you read correctly 128 players, so join ops has high hopes to allow for massive amounts of players on a server. that night i think we got over 100 players.

i am playing the demo right now, and at first I wanted to kill myself becuase it was so bad (no airplane physics, teamkilling, laggy), but after they released the first patch for it, the game was 1000x more better. Theres nothing like loading up a helicopter with a jeep and about 20 guys and assualting a base...only to be shot down and leave some lucky bastard with the kills. IMO Soldner will stop joint ops, since it too will support up to 128 players, 70+ vehicles, and 70+ weapons. But we will soon know

I hope JoWood knows how to advertise it in North America!
Would hate to only be able to play on high latency European servers because people this side of the pond don't buy it...
I've been following Soldner for awhile and some of the early Beta impressions sounded scary but since they re-delayed the release (man, it was supposed to be out how many moons ago?) I'm assuming they are applying mainstream polish to it to ensure success.

Here's to hoping it's not just hyping!

it does have its fair share of problems. For instance I cant join an online server to save my life, its just not possible with the stress that the master server goes through.

i agree, complete crap. There is about a 10% chance to get in a server, and even then, you WILL get booted out somehow. I want them to patch it soooooo bad, just like they did with joint ops.
