    Far Cry on ol'd 5660

I was just about to buy far cry today at Game stop, but it said some radeon 9000 systems won't be able to play.

    I have a 5660, one gig of ram , 2.8 ghz , 64 mb of ram...I guess I need the 3.9 catalyst drivers.

Instead I bought vice city, but anyone have issues with far cry on older 5600 series?

Far Cry is based on DX9, I don't think the 5660 is DX9 capable.
The best way to predict the future is to invent it

I can play it on my (even older!) Inspiron 8200 w/ATI9000m. Everything on medium except water (water HAS to be low or it won't load).

I can run the demo on my 5660 but at 800x600X32, low in game settings and bump my vid card memory setting from 160 to 182. Using ATI cat4.3. Yes the M9000 is not DX9.

what i don't get is that i'm playing vice city in pretty good resolution and having no glitches. Vice city is based on DX9 right?

    I just installed cat 4.4.

Is there a way to start-up Far Cry with everything turned down?

On my 8880 I click the EXE and nothing happens, not even an error message.
