How does it compare with DC?

...oh hell, it doesn't matter. I'll probably buy it tomorrow, regardless.

I read it supported 150 players.... not just 100.

yeah, i'm finding this game awesome

i was part of the original beta, but frustration got the better of me and i stopped beta testing the game due to bugs, servers going down, wasted more time trying to play than actually playing

fast forward to now, and i bought joint operations and played it and i have to say wow

the graphics aren't far cry equivalent, however keep in mind that this game supports 150 players in multiplayer, so the graphics can't be that great. With a couple of servers in the Advance and Secure mode with up to 150 players you can always find 140 plus players on those servers. The maps are HUGE, much much bigger than any BF maps. You can fly a variety of helicopters, boats/ships, land vehicles like jeeps, striker, apc's, etc.

you can drive a couple of jeeps into the larger cargo helos and i've seen on several occassions jamming 30 other players into a transport helo, and we began to assualt an island with a control point. the helo hovered a few feet off the deck, and 30 of us jumped out the back and rushed the control point, it had to have been one of the coolest gaming moments i've ever experienced
what's nice is that even in the absence of voice chat, this game does foster some team play, if i'm on alone and call in for air transport, always, someone comes flying in with a helo (if you call for transport any teammate with a vehicle sees a little icon in their HUD that gives direction of where u are, so helo pilots are busy picking up stragglers and transporting squads to various transport points)

also, another really cool factor in the game is the idea of playing across multiple "days". Let me explain, if you start a new session/map, if it starts during the day, you will start to notice the sun going down and the environment getting darker and darker until it becomes dark, then it gets lighter and lighter and the sun comes up. The game simulates the setting of the sun, darkness coming, the rising of the sun and morning, etc. I believe that you can set on the server how many minutes of game time equal actual hour of real life. For example, you can set 5 minutes of game time to equal 1 hour of real time so that in one hour of game time, you have a full 24 hours simulated including the morning, afternoon, night.

i believe that this is the first for any FPS game and a great concept.

anyway, i'll try to write more later, off to play a bit more

This game isn't very LAN friendly.
My wife and I like to play on a private LAN, but it looks like we'll have to buy at least two copies to do so with joint ops.

Does anyone want to trade CD-keys? PM me and I'll give you mine if you give me yours (for private LAN use only).

    OFP killer? Hmm, :nono:.

It looks kind of more cartoonish to me, if you really want to compare it to Operation Flashpoint. In ofp.... it's just the most realistic stuff out there, the way you handle those vehicles, the weather effects, the way you pee when you need to.... oops.. I think I've gone too far into details . Altough I think S.T.A.L.K.E.R. will be better, graphicaly and the way it'll be played, ofp still stands #1 -

Yes, you can play with much more players trough J'Ops, but hey, it's more about how the game goes, isn't it? While it's easy to communicate with your team and have a good/great plan in OFP, it's pretty hard to cooperate with 74 other people on your team in J'Ops, unless you just want to KILL KILL KILL !

    Just my 0.00002 roubles.
