    PCgamer magazine and Doom 3

PC Gamer gave Doom3 a 94% grade. They also recommended using a Radeon 9800 card. My question is this: Since they don't make a 9800 card for notebooks (as far as I know), then what is the difference between the Radeon Mobility 9700 and the Radeon 9800. Anyone know? My new laptop comes withe the 9700. I want to play Doom 3 on high.

.. Play Doom on high with a notebook? Maybe not....
It will play well, with modest settings I'm sure, but if you're looking to go "balls to the walls" sort of graphics, then get a Desktop... and get a Gefroce 6800 or X800

Of course I can't back up a damn thing i'm saying right now, other than just speculation... Figuring DOom is suppose to make FarCry look like Stick Figures, then I would assume Doom on high settings will make a Notebook cry for mercy....

once again, Im sure Doom 3 will play WELL on a Current Model Sager or other Syste mwith a M9700 in it... But I don't think on high..

Last I heard Doom 3 was an openGL game and someone had a video of a Doom 3 preview running on a desktop with low settings and it looked pretty good, so it should run on notebooks with an ATI Mobility 9700.

Desktop Radeon 9600 Pro's and above are more (slightly) powerful than a m11. The 9600 is a middle-of-the-line card and should run Doom decently. M11 definitely can't run it with max settings, but it will definitely still look good. I'm not worried about HL2 either, as they had those running silky-smooth off of 9800's at max settings at e3.
