Making Doom 3 play better on your PC...

This is a little hint especially for those who don't have the top-of-the-line video cards. I'm sure this isn't anything earthshattering, but I hope it helps someone. I'm awaiting delivery of my 256MB GeForce 6800 GT OC DDR3, so in the meantime, I'm using my 128MB ATI 9800 SE. I've found that if I don't use Fullscreen, and resize the game window down to about 2/3 to 1/2 of my screen, I can play the game extremely well at High Quality and 1600x1200 resolution. Again, this isn't a revelation to most gamers, but it oughtta help just about anyone whose PC is having a rough time playing this incredible game.

Try flashing your 9800 SE to a 9800 Pro bios, or use the SE -> Pro mod in the omega drivers.

jswriter: once you get the 6800 are you going to sell the 9800? If so, how much? I'd like to buy it for a reasonable price.

Tourney -- I hadn't considered selling my 9800 SE, but would be happy to if you'd like it. I've got no idea when my 6800 will arrive, though. Supposedly, BFG is gonna be shipping a new batch of 6800 cards on Tuesday, the 10th. I can let you know via a PM when I get my 6800.

    It's clocked at 325/580
There are many way to find the settings. If you have a ocing program such as powerstrip or radlinker, it will show you your default settings. You can get it from new egg which generally tells you what each gpu they sell is clocked at.
newegg.com sells the 128mb 9800SE for $130. Could you PM with how much you'd want for it.
I'm buying a new desktop in 6 months and need a better gpu to get me by (currently stuck with a 256mb nividia FX5600) But I really don't feel like spending much as I just blew $1900 on my laptop.
