Need Half Life 2 Help NOW!!!!!!

Ok...I just got my new Desktop (6800 GT's in SLI) and after playing HL2 for a while I tried to up the resolution on the game....well, my monitor cannot handle the res the games starts up in and will not produce any images so that I can change it. Basically, when i start the game I automatically get a monitor produced error message saying it is out of freq range. Is there a way to change to res the game starts up in without starting up the game....or any other way to fix this besides getting a new monitor (for all you wise guys out there)

Monitors generally have a maximum resolution. It seems your monitor is older so its a lower maximum resolution. I would get a new monitor, they are much cheaper than the gpu's your using so you could get a nice 19" CRT monitor for around 250 I think.

Problem Solved! HL2 finally fixed the problem by itself. It took a nights rest and a reboot.
