This is insane. More than $500 for one and a premium may cost north of $600. I could build a gaming PC for that price.

You have it all wrong! The PS3 isn't an expensive console, it's a REALLY cheap Blu-Ray player (that only plays 720p/1080i upscaled; no true 1080p).

the ps3 is going to be like 400-500, i read it, sony isn't stupid they have more expierence then microsoft and they know how to sell consoles

Still gaming consoles are becoming way overpriced. I remember when playstation 2 came out orginally, I could buy the system but not any of the games.
