40GB PS3 for $299

so was there a reason they didnt put backwards compatability in the 40gb? i mean call it petty but if i buy another console i dont want to have to have the old one still around taking up space to play my old favorites (ff series)

They should have taken out WiFi. That is something not everyone will need or use and could be easily added optionally. Backwards compatibilty should not be a choice. If they've given it to use in the PS2 they should do it with the PS3.

WiFi is a minimal cost. It needs to be in there.

The backwards compatibility is a cheap tactic, though. Without hardware support, the emulation is just an application. They could have included that application. It's just incentive to try to get people to get the more expensive model.
