| No but its a small computer and not a lot of people have routers or modems next to their entertainment center. And the technology is not that expensive. Out of all the features that you may not want to use on the PS3 you complain about the wifi? |

: 42 nd | | | I'm not complaining, I'd just rather have backwards compatibility on all units, and have a choice to have WiFi. One is easily added on, the other is not.
How the fuck is that not logical?

| I didn't say it wasn't logical. Why are you swearing at me? That's your opinion, you're entitled to it. If people wanted BC they had a year to buy a PS3. Im happy with my BC and wifi PS3. |

 : 42 nd | | | It being logical was a question, and I'm sorry for that.
A year to buy a console that had maybe one worthy title to justify the purchase? $299/$399 is a decent price, and now that they have a few better games out I can justify spending the money. On the other hand, they've flip flopped the features so much is it even worth going for the 40 or 80gb model when a more feature filled unit could be around the corner at the same or lower price?
It's just frustrating.

: 42 nd | | | I wonder, since the BC is now software based... couldn't there be a possibility of just unlocking or installing it onto the 40gb model?

| Not until someone cracks the system.
The PSP was only able to be cracked because of one small flaw they left in. The flaw in particular was that every function was locked down tight, except where the kernel reads from. It was found that you could actually redirect the kernel to read from the memory stick instead of the flash. This opened up the doors for people to start cracking away at the firmware.
Considering the PS3 was released after the PSP, you can be sure they fixed any holes and learned from all the flaws of the PSP. There isn't even a way for people to play pirated games on the PS3 yet (that I'm aware of). So the chances of someone getting the emulator to run on the 40gb model is probably highly out of the question for now.

| To your response i ask what did the 360 have in its first year??? Gears of War came out about a year from 360 release and now its on PC. The PS3 had Uncharted, Ratchet, Resistance, Heavenly Sword and Warkhawk all in the first year. |

Please, for everyone, please bury the hatchet so the rest of us can have lucid and mature conversations about our interests in gaming and hardware. |

| | ^ Thank you, this fanboyism is gay as hell.
Dope the word on the street is that phil harrison or whomever decided to drop the BC on the 40gb to encourage more users to buy PS3 games instead of PS2 (ps2 console and games are selling like crazy still) games/consoles because he wants to encourage users to switch to the ps3+games. I don't know if this is correct, but it would not surprise me.
Dope I got the 60gb at the same time as Duke because I knew what would happen, and I still do play (and buy) PS2 games on it and love it.

Speaking of which, how is the compatibility between the hardware version and the software emulation version for the PS3?
| I believe from reading peoples thoughts on the matter, that the hardware BC is known to be superior.
Panic: every console manufacturer does something quite illogical every generation, get over it. I know wifi is cheap and should be on there but let it go.

| I agree, but my original posts (within 20 minutes of the thread post) were valid and pertaining to the main topic, and should not have been deleted.
