Well - the ideal stuff tends to be around the $1g mark, but actually affordable stuff - dunno really, as of now I don't have a budget for one :P

my Aiwa is 5.1 720watts and sounds great - for upgrading I'd go for 7.1 (which I have for my computer) with, yeah, about 100 watts per channel. I'd like to keep it around there or 120 because it sounds great in my basement (room is a rectangle... probably 40x20 ft or so.) - have two HDMI ports on the TV - one for the PC hooked up to it and the other for the PS3. If I needed any more I'd probably use a receiver that can take HDMI inputs.

...and man... I have the makings of a migraine... i'll probably go home from work and try to sleep

for whatever reason I missed that. So I am very pleased! I'd have to confirm with my friend again (or have him bring over some of his PS2 games) to see if they just work on his - but it really doesnt matter... I just have the FF anthology stuff, GT2, Lunar the silver star story, and a few other random games that were given to me... so I don't have much. But i'm much happier that I can play on a system thats not over 10 years old and i'm fearful of it failing on me

Yup! I need to play ChronoTrigger again - that game I haven't played since it came out! been such a long time that I don't remember much of anything from it! (I have both Anthology and Chronicles as well!).

I will certainly be playing those games.. not much difference on the PS3 sure, but heck.. wireless controller and on my hdtv with better sound is good for me!

AVS always has a pretty good deal usually. Everything I've bought from them has usually been 25%-28% off the MSRP. They are also pretty good at recommending the best AV gear for your budget. Just give them a call.

Looks like its back to saving again!! though it'll probably be a while before I get a new receiver I'm sure (i'm looking at getting a new computer next year as well if at all possible). But as we start to get more HD movies that could change things .. hopefully
