I think im going to order the slim off of amazon and pick up a few games.

    Im looking at getting:
    madden 10
    drakes fortune
    resistance 1&2
    bioshock
    deadspace
preordering fallout 3 game of the year edition

Anything else I should check out with a rental or definitely buy?
    socom confrontation
Sry for double posting, but alright:

What type of games are you into?

I can highly recommend Drake's Fortune (and you should also pre-order Uncharted 2 while you're at it, many consider that to be the PS3 GOTY already).

Yeah Resistance is fun and pretty good (especially the MP in the 2nd one, although probably a much lower player base currently due to other high profile games).

Bioshock=definite (especially if you're like me and didn't play it on PC beforehand).

I have Dead Space at home still from Gamefly, going to play it sometime when I go home for a weekend... Duke was all about this game.

    I can't speak for/against Fallout 3, never played it.

Until you let me know what you're into, I won't recommend a slew of games yet.

    General games-

    uncharted is a must own
    fallout3 if you like RPGs
lots of great sports games- madden10, tiger, MLB the show 09. NHL and NBA should have their new games out soon, NHL 10 looks to be great if you like hockey
killzone 2 I like better than resistance
    mgs 4
and like gantua said batman is great if you are into the style
can recommend you more if you tell me what genres you really go for

Just food for thought, here's the games I'm buying in the next few months:

Batman is already bought, very good game so far.

    Uncharted 2

    Assassin's Creed 2

Ratchet & Clank: Crack in Time

    Modern Warfare 2

Star Wars Force Unleashed: Ultimate Sith Edition

God of War Collection (GOW 1 & 2 remastered + other stuff like trophy support. This release is for those who didn't play them first time around so you have the background for God of War 3).

FPS: Killzone 2, Resistance 1/2, Red Faction: Guerrilla, and MAG (releases Q1 2010)

Action (quite broad): Infamous, Prototype, Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction (and A Crack in Time coming 10/27... Quest for Booty on the PSN is pretty good too), LittleBigPlanet Game of the Year Edition, Ghostbusters, etc...

Racing: Burnout Paradise, Gran Turismo 5 (releases around end of 2009 I believe), etc

RPG's: Personally I'm waiting for FF13, but Fuzzy likes Valkyria Chronicles, and Fallout 3 is goty, so yeah.

good luck, and have fun with the PS3!

Personally, I'd only rent Dirt 2, but that's just me.

40oz, I forgot to mention Wipeout HD on the PSN, definitely check that out.
