yup ati is doing the xbox2. It is a derivative of the r600 core even though it will be called the r500. It does not mean it will be inferior to ATI's upcoming r520 due out this May.

yeah, how much is this system going to cost?

XBOX can do tunneling over the regular internet. There are 3rd party programs that allow you to connect two consoles using system link over the net as if they were in the same room.

Well if Xbox goes with ATI they are making a great choice. Looking at benchmarks the ATI graphic cards outperform Nvidia everytime.

ehhh...benchmarks and real-world performance are two different animals. ati x800xl limited or whatever is benching higher than ultra 6800s..but ultras have pixel shader 3.0 and some might argue the games look better/indistinguishable. Doom3 better nvidia, HL2 better ATI. Its about even in my book. nvidia has had better driver support.

The benchmarks I have seen put Nvidia slightly over ATI, but they are so close that its safe to say they are the same. I figure the implimentation of the cards and other important aspects of these nexGen systems is more important.

yep it's going to be quite a battle between the graphic card companies in the console arena... As for HL2 being better on ATi's cards, well see when HL2 releases its support for HDR, it made Far Cry look distinctly better with a card that supported HDR on that game. The PS3 Cell sounds powerful, but it all depends on how the developers take advantage of the systems capabilities and how much memory sony will put in the system (i hope they don't make the same mistake they made with the PS2) I do hope the PS3 will at least be more powerful that the current high end gaming systems so that i won't be temped to buy a faster PC for a while...

The newest Radeon (X850) has overtaken the 6800GT, so ATI is the leader for hte time being. As far as the change from nVidia to ATI for the Xbox 2 goes, it sounds like a supply issue from what I've read. Apparently, part of the reason XBox systems were in short supply over the holidays was because of issues relating to production of the nVidia chips. ATI has managed to keep pace with its production of GPU's for the Gamecube, even after its sales doubled after the price drop to $100 last year.

    Gateway 7405GX:
    Athlon 64 3200+, 2GB PC3200 DDR RAM,
    100GB 5400 RPM HD, 8X DVD+/-RW DL,
    ATI Radeon 9600 w/ 64MB RAM
    Windows XP x64/Windows Vista
