| | | Mitchell Report Okay guys, this is getting released today... and before it does, i want to point out a few things before people start pointing fingers at each other.
Firstly, in case you don't know what it is, its a report this guy Mitchell is releasing at 2pm today, that supposedly names up to 80 players in the MLB who have used performance-enhancing drugs and supposedly is more prevalent among pitchers - "ncluding some Cy Young Award winnerS"... plural....
But just think twice before starting the hate. It's almost like a member of your family if someone on your home team is named. You don't stop loving someone in your family that gets in trouble. You're disappointed for sure, but you move on.
That said I hope no big names are on that list. |

| | | well dukie, i have been following this from the start since i will proclaim that i am the biggest baseball fan i know.
I am looking forward to the report, yet i will question its integrity considering that the MLB, the MLBPA, and others seemingly skirted around much of the questioning. I think A LOT more people would have been named had the report been done by congress itself (which we may say congress step in if the report doesnt answer everything they want.) I have great respect for George Mitchell and the work he is doing, but I want answers.
As for the accused and those who are officially named, I will not hate on them. I may possibly look at them differently, but I think that people have to acknowledge the fact that steriods and amphetamines were part of an era in baseball. This wasnt a close quarters issue that a few players ( i.e. Barry Bonds, McGwire, Sosa, Canseco, etc.) brought upon the league; It was a rampant issue that has run from the front office all the way down to clubhouse attendants, and all organizations (knowingly or unknowingly) have played a part in the "steriod scandal".
The fact is that I want to know about all of this, and I want to know who cheated and who didn't. But the integrity of the sport should not be lost to anyone- steroids were a part of the game over the last twenty years, and the league is making the motions to bring the league back to the way it should be.

| | The only reason i dont think Normar is on the list is SI did an interview and a full page story on him, how he is one of the hardest working MLB players they'd ever seen. Spent like 5 hours a day in the gym, had 3-4% body fat... etc etc... its hard to image this was under the uniform. |

| | | yes, i know how hard he works, just you have to take all of the injuries into account sometimes. I would hate to see him named, but im just saying i would not doubt it.
what do you think about clemens though?

what do you think about clemens though? | Clemenes is a big name that people are wondering about. I wouldn't be surprised but I'd def. be disappointed.
And good point about Normar. He was awesome for 4-5 years now he's just average. Where'd all his skill go? After he broke is wrist he was never the same. |

| | | I dont think its that he lost his skill- the wrist injury he had was devastating and compltely threw off his mechanics- but im saying that has inability to recover and the rash of injuries that followed do point to one time use.
and I wouldnt be disappointed at all about clemens- great pitcher, easily one of the greatest ever- but has become somewhat of a mockery to the game in recent years.
