Friend of mine has a newish 4wd Tacoma he's going to sell soon. I'm tempted to buy it, if they really want to get rid of it.

Hmm, any issues with picking a 4 cyl Escape over a 6? I'm assuming that the 6 would last longer... starting to narrow down my search lol

The 4 cyl gets about the same mileage and has less torque. Plus you have to really push the 4 cyl to get it to move.

Is it generally the case that a larger engine may "last longer" than a smaller engine in the same type of vehicle (well, with normal use anyways)? That's been my assumption. Ugh, been too busy haven't had any time to check out any vehicles.... Would rather have a Highlander, but the Escape looks to be a better deal. though i've seen reviews that put the reliability pretty low as compared to the Highlander :P ugh. But then again.... have almost 170k miles on the Saturn and the only major crap we've had done is the transmission (which is fine, except for the part that I believe transfers the power to the wheels? shifts fine... but CRAP is that loud) and replacing a couple water pumps :P

A Toyota ANYTHING is more reliable than other brands. That's why they hold their value.

Wife wants to start looking for a four wheel drive SUV that has a lot more room. We have a Kia Sorento right now and thought it has been a great car, we need a bigger one as we're thinking about having another child.

Not sure what I want to go after yet.

Toyota Sequoia is their big one, then the Highlander.

Factor in that they'll last twice as long as most other brands.
