Glitch on Linux, Not Hackers

My brother was trying out Steam under wine in Ubuntu, and noticed some glitches in TF2. The Textures/Shaders don't quite work right. The spy's invisibility, for example, sometimes fails to paint properly, leaving an obvious black silhouette running around . So if you notice someone attacking you while invisible, ask if they are running linux before you ban them. They might not be doing it on purpose.

Wouldn't that still be using a glitch on purpose? Which would basically be cheating.

It doesnt matter, just because he sees the invisibility on his, client side, doesnt mean that you can still magically attack people while invisible.

well, i asked my bro, (he's using steam on linux cuz he doesn't like windows) and he says that the problem is with the prediter like shimmer on the spy when he bumps something, instead of shimmering, he sees a black silhouette (which is easier to see obviously). He's not purposely using an exploit tho, so no i don't think its cheating. He thinks its a driver translation problem, going from DirectX to OpenGL in wine thats the culprit. He's excited that Steam may decide to officially support a linux port, and i bet everyone who runs or would like to run linux (mostly cuz buying windows sucks) is excited too. BTW, the black shilouette only happens infrequently, usually only when the player bumps an invisible spy.

Oh BTW, he's using Wine version number 1.1.2 using -dxlevel 81 flag on a GeForce 8800GT

Fish111, no you cant attack people while invisible, it just sometimes give the linux player a slight advantage against spy

It probably has nothing to do with the Linux video drivers. It has to do with him being stubborn and not just playing the game on Windows.
