: 9 th | | | Crackdown demo Seeing alot of feedback on this title on the other forums some negative but mostly positive. Alot of the negative feedback stems from the cel shaded graphics and lack of realism in the game. I really havent followed this game up until yesterday when I got the demo on live, but it seems like a decent game maybe a renter for me at best. Maybe if I play it a bit more Ill upgrade my opinion of it but right now its just a tad too convoluted for my taste. 7/10.

: 67 th | | | I was REALLLY excited for this game, but after playing the demo - well, the cel shading sucks, and I dont get hooked on playing further. I dont see the point of using cel shading on a 360. |

: 9 th | | | I kinda agree, but they may have had to do that to get it to run effectively with all the other animations going on and sheer volume of people on the streets at any one time.

its made to be like a comic book, a super cop jumping from skyscraper to skyscraper, kicking semi's to send em flying. it pretty much kinda a comic which is why they decided on cel-shaded
heres a mini review from another forum i visit for you who havent played it (like me) Quote: |

Game takes some learning (in the beginning you have no idea what to do, basically, and the tutorial voice gets REALLY annoying, especially with guys on the rooftops, "ENEMIES ABOVE, AGENT!" "ENEMIES ABOVE, AGENT!" "ENEMI-/mutes"), but I'm sure they'll have a tutorial or something in the beginning.
First thing's first, this game defines open-endedness. There is missions, but the main meat of the storyline is hunting down the crime lords and killing them. Much like Mercenaries, you can choose who to go for at any time, it doesn't matter which order you do them in. Actually, yeah, this reminds me ALOT of Mercenaries, just with co-op and a ton of more things to do (ie. level, side missions, etc.).
This game is MEANT for co-op. In the beginning, you're pretty useless, barely more enhanced then a typical human, gun control is terrible, and you won't be able to drive for ****, and you can only lift 200lbs worth of weight. Since other characters will have different stats, they will be able to do things you won't be able to do. Take for instance, when this was announced my buddy wanted to be a sniper, maxed out, sniping enemies across the city, while I prefer to get up close and personal and cave their heads in. With that said, I LOVE how you can specialize in certain things. I'll branch off...
BTW, YOU DON'T BEGIN AT LEVEL 1, YOU BEGIN AT LEVEL 0. Agility:
Controls your speed and jump height. At level 1, it's pretty useless, but by level 2 you'll start being able to scale the skyscrapers (videos don't do it justice, they're HUGE). I managed to get it to level 3, and I jumped roughly 50 feet in the air, and could run pretty fast enough to catch civilian cars. In the full game it'll take roughly 6 hours to get to level 3, and even with the 10x experience I only managed to get 20% to level 4, so expect that skills will take a good 20 or so hours to max out. Easiest skill to level, from what I've seen (probably because most people will want to jump/do-something-else for their character). Snipers would probably benefit from this the most, though, since they want to get up high. Explosives:
Controls the damage and volitile force of explosives. Got it to level 1, grenades are noticably much more powerful, I'd love to see the destruction they cause at level 4. This was even tougher to raise levels; at 10x experience, I only managed to get to level 1, and 40% to level 2. Obviously goes hand in hand with Strength, so you don't blow your dumbass self up. Strength:
Self-explanitory. Controls damage resistance, strength of melee attacks, throwing distance, and lifting power. By level 3 I could lift just over 2 tons, and throw objects 150 feet. Barely got to level 3 before demo timed out (30 seconds before, lol). Goes great with Explosives, since you can throw things farther. Accuracy:
Weapon damage, accuracy, aim time. Err, that probably sounds off to you, with the whole aim time thing. When you aim at a character, the reticule will slowly close on them, as your character is steadying their weapon. At this point, you can use the right thumbstick to control which body part you want to fire at, while remaining able to dodge and move around with the left thumbstick. Headshots kill in a single hit, but you have to have it literally square on. Got to level 2, almost level 3 with this one. Obviously goes hand in hand with either vehicles (JETS BABY, JETS) or Agility. Vehicles:
Hardest one yet. Controls handling, reaction time to controls (neato effect), and overall aquaintence to whatever vehicle goes up as well (better braking time, higher jumps, easier tricks, etc.). Wreckless driving will LOWER your vehicle skill, but not below the exponent you're skill progress is at (as in, if you have 15%, it will drop to 10%, but no further). At later levels I assume this will be extremely frustrating, but still. Only managed to get to level 1 with this one, and just barely (roughly 2 minutes left of demo timer). Wasn't skilled enough to transform my car yet :[. Goes pretty well with Explosives (NIIIICE explosion particles/physics), maybe Strength if you like throwing 'em. BOTTOM ****ING LINE:
It's fun, ALOT of fun. One last thing though, don't play on "tough" difficulty (which is actually Easy), go for the one above instead, doesn't seem challenging enough. Some might say the graphics arn't up to snuff with other next-gen titles, and this is true somewhat, but they have bumpmaps on all surfaces, dynamic lighting, soft shadows, and HDR, so it's by no means an ugly game, it's designed to look like a comic book, for sure (hell, biologically-enhanced super-agents cracking down on gang violence in a futuristic New York City...reminds me a bit of Ironman, tbh ;D).
I want this game. NOW. Quote: |

| Well it's not really made to be like a comic. I'd prefer normal graphics with less npc's running around. I guess I'm just not a fan of cel-shading. |
